Job Description
The Performance Tester serves as a Subject Matter Expert and performs analysis of systems and requirements. Analyze network performance with relevant tools. The Tester also directs or assists in the design of test plans in support of user requirements for moderately complex to extremely complex IT systems. The Tester will perform activities such as determining what performance testing strategy to implement; writing technical test plans, test case scenarios, identifying what and how loads and metrics to be collected; ability to identify which protocol is best to use for building scripts and connecting to test environment interfaces; conducting various types of tests and collecting necessary metrics; writing test analysis documents highlighting key findings and recommendations; perform code reviews. May supervise, coordinate and/or perform additions and changes to network hardware and software. Analyze user interfaces, maintain hardware and software performance tuning, analyze workload and computer usage, analyze uptimes and downtimes, analyze proposed system modifications, upgrades and new COTS products. Analyze the problem and the information to be processed. Define the problem, and develops system requirements and program specifications, plan and monitor the optimization of systemoperation and resource utilizationand perform performance engineering and systems capacity analysis and planning. Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level and working with communication protocols. Perform Fault Management (set of functions that detect, isolate, and correct malfunctions in the system.
The Tester should have the following skills:

Ability to evaluate performance results and recommends major changes affecting short-term project growth and success.

Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals
Ability to supervise others
Candidate must have strong communication skills.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Evaluate non-functional requirement documents and identifies performance test needs
Write test plans, test cases and record/track defects.
Develop and maintains a Performance Test Plan/Strategy document defining: test objectives, types of tests needed, workload matrix, and test scenarios.
Develop test scripts and load projections
Collect performance metrics and perform load, stress, and duration/endurance tests.
Analyze performance test results and identifies bottlenecks within the system.
Work with respective teams to plan/define SLAs and ensure they are met.
Identify root cause using diagnostics tools
Suggest improvements and configuration changes that improve performance of the system
Support Agile system development efforts including, technical design, and testing
Required Education & Experience
Associate’s Degree or higher and/or 5+ years of related experience

Candidate must be a US Citizen, possess DHS Suitability background investigation or be eligible to qualify for DHS Entry of Duty background investigation followed by DHS Public Trust Clearance
