Technical Business Analyst

The Technical Business Analyst represents business stakeholders to elicit, understand, analyze, document, refine and communicate business needs so that technical delivery teams can build effective solutions. This requires a detailed understanding of client needs, as well as business vision and strategy, to prioritize investment, business value and delivery. The ideal candidate must be able to work collaboratively as a fully contributing team member and performs essential tasks to translate business requirements and define/help to implement the journey of data – whether transformation and ingestion of an external data source, or generation of outbound data assets. This resource can successfully transform project objectives into an actionable plan, coordinate activities across cross-functional teams, monitor progress toward objectives and plan, and develop/manage the schedule to ensure projects are completed on-time and aligned with stakeholder expectations.

As a Technical Business Analyst you will be responsible for coordinating delivery of strategic initiatives and establishing strong relationships with our brand and technology partners. We’re looking for an experienced and technical Business Analyst who can collaborate across product, technology, and governance functions. The main tasks of this Technical Business Analyst will include performing detailed requirements analysis, writing technical specifications, performing user acceptance testing and managing the cross-team collaboration and communication required for successful deployments. This position requires a tech-savvy professional with an in-depth understanding of SaaS systems and application implementation, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to act as liaison between the internal stakeholders and the technical team in charge of developing the application. This role is responsible for overseeing ongoing site production enhancements, effectively releasing new features and functions, and developing sound processes that ensure that business and technical requirements are effectively met.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead technology requirements and discovery sessions, working with business and cross functional teams
Engage with domain and subject matter experts to identify, develop, document and validate requirements, demonstrating Agile behaviors that emphasize collaboration, delivery, reflection and improvement
Break down high level requirements as provided by technology leadership into technical specifications, create user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria and a clear definition of done
Define and manage the project scope, prioritization and schedule through the use of artifacts such as Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Release Burndown and others to provide transparency and monitor progress toward project objectives and plan
Conduct requirements reviews with project team members, sponsors and relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment
Define and execute test cases, including system regression
Plan, organize and facilitate User Acceptance Testing across multiple engineering and business teams, including capturing and prioritizing identified issues/feedback for the development team
Create and manage JIRA tickets, prioritize them, and ensure the right work is being done and the business goals are being met
Manage and triage backlog, and production support tickets, considering business priority, effort required and strategic roadmap
Contribute to the development of roadmaps, release, and implementation plans
Work as part of an Agile Scrum team to deliver high quality, secure, robust and scalable solutions that align with stakeholder expectations
Operate in an agile team environment and ensure success of the project by taking ownership of deliverables and performing agile project management, testing, support and training
Drive identification, socialization and mitigation of risks that could compromise delivery
Maintain open and constant communication amongst the team, management, and stakeholders regarding project status and sprint outcomes through the use of development roadmaps, sprint reviews, release burndowns, and other vehicles as needed
Inspect, accept or reject completed work from the development sprint
Promote a collaborative working relationship with the team and stakeholders
Conduct all business in accordance with eVestment policies and procedures

4+ years of experience and successful track record as a technical Business Analyst/Product Owner in an Agile environment
Understanding of SDLC and CI/CD workflows and processes
High level understanding of DevOps tools such as Terraform, Jenkins, and Bitbucket
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
Experience with AWS is a plus
Must be able to efficiently manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and excel in a fast-paced environment
Must be a solutions-oriented problem solver, highly analytical and strategic thinker
Experience delivering in an Agile environment using Scrum methodology and associated tools (Jira, Confluence, etc.)
Ability to make complex technical logic understandable to non-technical audiences
Demonstrated functional and conceptual understanding of technical matters, as well as the proven ability to quickly learn new business domains and technical applications
Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups across multiple disciplines
Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team, including taking initiative, providing regular updates on your work, seeking and providing support as required
Demonstrated ability in creatively solve problems and try new approaches to achieve work outcomes, leveraging a strong analytical mindset
Demonstrated negotiation and influencing skills, enabling effective interaction with stakeholders and users in the provision of advice, guiding decision-making and seeking cooperation in the delivery of solutions
Exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver technical and business reports and proposals for all levels
Demonstrated proactive client service skills and effective stakeholder management
Strong attention to detail including precise and effective communications and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
Effective meeting management skills to initiate, develop agenda, conduct, and communicate decisions so that all appropriate parties are kept up-to-date
Energetic, shows passion and is invested in the project as well as our business as a whole
