Job Description :
Position Summary: This is a unique opportunity for a SQL database developer to work within a team in architecting, designing, developing and enhancing the backend and data movement processes.
The successful candidate will work with peers in the development team as well as key business stakeholders in executing backend processing requirements. The candidate will be responsible for all phases of the development cycle. This role requires hands on technical involvement as well as architecture, design, requirements capture, planning, development and status reporting.
The role will involve coordination and collaboration with other members of the development, infrastructure and database teams.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Gather and analyze requirements from internal business and technical stakeholders as well as outside industry participants
Design, develop and implement SSIS packages and SSRS reports that address complex business requirements
Craft complex stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints
Apply strong knowledge of database design, normalization concepts, primary and foreign key constraints
Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, connectivity issues, security issues etc.
Conduct performance tuning and query optimization using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Apply knowledge of how indexes are structured, how statistics work and affect query plans, how indexes are stored, how they can be created and managed effectively.
Use other common SQL Server tools (Profiler, SSIS, SSMS, PerfMon, DMVs)Process data in common formats such as JSON and XML
Document processes and procedures (creating KBs, whitepapers, topology diagrams)
Provide guidance and support to application developers while applying best practices
Preferred candidates would also meet the following criteria:
Experience working with Visual Studio Database Projects desired
Experience working in a Windows Azure Environment
Knowledge of both Azure SQL Database as well as IAAS SQL Servers are desired
Experience working in a development scrum team desired.
Knowledge of PowerShell Scripting
Documentation skills for processes and procedures
Experience working with sensitive data such as PHI, HIPPA or PCI
Experience understanding the financial services data specifically futures & options trading
Familiarity with basic database administration tasks such as conducting integrity checks, applying patches, and configuring replication.
Qualifications:
Extensive (10+ years) experience in database development and support in MS SQL Server environments
Demonstrated expertise in working in a complex business and technical environment
Keen analytic and problem-solving skills
Articulate individual who can interact with developers, management and business stakeholders
