Job Description :

has an exciting opportunity for a Network Operations Engineer in our Hughes Network Systems division. The position is located in our Gaithersburg, Maryland office. Hughes has initiated next generation communications system projects comprising 5G, LEO, and GEO for mission critical applications. We are using an agile approach and cutting-edge technologies for 5G core, open RAN, resilient satellite terminals, and smart software technologies including AI/Client for resiliency and orchestration. With industry leading technical portfolio and small and nimble team environment Hughes would like to benefit from your experience for this exciting project which is expanding to additional sites and capabilities. (onsite every day)

  • Responsibilities:
    • Monitor terrestrial telecom systems (4G/5G) for alarms and event.
    • Perform first level of troubleshooting issues to ensure continued health of the network.
    • Create and maintain defect reports and track resolution of defects to closure.
    • Interfacing with partners/vendors to resolve support issues.
    • Own support issues from start to finish.
    • Work with customers to resolve any service problems and keep customers happy with superior support.
    • Ability to perform basic LAN configurations (Routers / Firewalls)
    • Train and assist other engineers with complex issues.
  • Basic Requirements:
    • 4+ years experience in the following: TCP/IP; LAN/WAN; Switching and Routing Protocols; Linux and Windows; Networking Technologies.
    • Knowledge of data communications principles, architectures and protocols including TCP/IP, routing, switching, LAN/WAN and Ethernet technologies to and interoperability troubleshooting skills.
    • Basic understanding of 4G systems and protocols
    • Knowledge of basic Linux / UNIX commands and networking
    • Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunication's, Engineering or related technical field, or relevant work experience
    • Must be capable of obtaining and holding a U.S. government security clearance. [No clearance needed but must be US Citizen]

  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Knowledge of 5G systems, subsystems and protocols
    • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
    • Familiarity with Cisco Secure Network Analytics (SNA), Nessus and Splunk
    • Ability to triage events in Splunk and correlate with threats/attacks
