Senior Network Support Engineer

Richmond, VA

Job Description: (What will the NPW do on that project?)

Candidate will provide technical support (cabling, racking/stacking, initial configuration and ongoing management) of network equipment for a large LAN environment. Support includes Cisco routers/switches, wireless devices, some VoIP, problem determination, network design/engineering, installing and de-installing network gear.

Services candidate will support:

1. Change Management 2. Problem Management 3. Support Security Compliance/Audits 4. Attend Internal/External customer Meetings 5. Network Consultation 6. Maintain Documents i.e. Network Drawings. 7. Support Architecture Design utilizing Visio Diagrams. 8. Support Wireless Cisco Infrastructure 9. Support VoIP.

Make sure candidate understands: On call rotation 24x7

Successful background check and drug screening required.

Must be able to demonstrate hands on experience providing technical support (installation, configuration and ongoing management) of Cisco LAN equipment in a production environment.

Working in a call center or a network operations center does not qualify as experience providing hands on technical support.

Must be able to demonstrate involvement in multiple projects where candidate was required to lead the deployment and/or implementation of LAN connectivity.

Experience with EIGRP, BGP, OSPF routing protocols. MPLS exposure desired.

Cisco CCNA/CCNP certification desired.

• LAN engineering of Clients LAN infrastructure

• High degree of expertise in Cisco networking devices, i.e., switches, routers.

• Limited network device racking and stacking

• 7x24x365 on call support rotation

• Change implementation. Changes could be implemented off hours and weekends, depending on the needs of the business

• Excellent understanding of change management processes

• Onsite support requirement for the Richmond site

• Nexus skills desirable, including N1K, N7K, N9KA

• F5 Load Balancer skills desirable

• Cisco certification(s) are a plus

• Cisco wireless skills desirable

• Good customer communication skills required

• Excellent teamwork in a remote support environment

• Must be a self-starter and able to work independently
