Position: Network Admin (Netcool)

Location: Reston, VA

Duration: 12 Months


Qualifications:


Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field or a High School diploma (or equivalent) with relevant knowledge, skills, and experience with 10 or more years of experience.

A minimum of six years of relevant experience supporting real-time, centralized monitoring of large, complex networks and technical systems. Fault and performance monitoring tools, such as Netcool, Netcool Operations Insight (NOI), and SevOne.

Eight or more years? experience in a network administration role with Cisco, Juniper, SD-WAN, SDN and Enterprise Wi-Fi.

Advanced knowledge of complex network design & network protocols.

Knowledge of Service Now; especially as it relates to any experience integrating monitoring tools with ServiceNow, or similar ITSM tool, highly beneficial.

Written Communication: The ability to express oneself clearly in business writing.

Communication: Balancing listening and talking, speaking and writing clearly and accurately, influencing others, keeping others informed.

Detail oriented, excellent analytical skills and good interpersonal skills.

Inductive Reasoning ? The ability to combine pieces of information to form conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events

Must have critical thinking and analytical skills, with developed communication skills and the ability to turn analysis and insight into well-documented recommendations and plans.

Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements and priorities.


Responsibilities:


Ensure appropriate triggers are in place or detection means to ensure that service affecting events are captured and resolved in accordance with our contractual Service Level Agreements and Target Resolution Times.

Perform impact analysis. Analyze alarms on systems and tickets to define or correlate different aspects of a service or services.

Look at default values and put them in context of our services in a network operations center / managed services environment.

Ensure alarm enrichment data integrity.

Convert device alert information into business logic.

Perform ongoing analysis of the data in CMDB and the monitoring systems to alert thresholds and validate alarms are present in the NOC Console.

Responsible for improving metrics and ticket reduction for Network Operations utilizing our fault and performance environment.

Ensure that events are correctly detected and reacted to via automation tools or daily checks processes.

Meet with stakeholders and document use cases to be implemented as part of projects and automation.

Ensure that events are correctly classified and communicated to the appropriate functions.

Develop reports to identify deficiencies/inconsistencies of event handling and incident management processes?Continuous Service Improvement.

Participate in OSS integration and User Acceptance Testing (UAT

Active participant of new device type testing for alarming and performance.

Utilize Oracle / SQL, Tableau, Excel and Business Intelligence and other tools to gather, analyze and present data.

Provide training material through documentation and conduct presentation to a group of 20+ Operations members and multiple internal teams providing awareness of tools implementation and readiness of the projects.

Create and maintain all support documents for the monitoring environment, including (but not limited to) operations guides, disaster recovery procedures and environment architecture records.
