Job Description:

We are looking for a QA Manager with a sharp eye, inquisitive nature, and a strong interest in websites and web development. We are leading technology solutions provider with over 100,000 development hours developing advanced web and mobile platforms, for enterprise clients. With direction from senior IT leadership and using independent judgment and discretion, this position defines and implements quality assurance processes and implementation procedures for our customer facing websites and back-end applications.  The QA Manager solves complex problems by conceiving and driving innovative technical QA solutions. This position provides technical and staff leadership and sets standards for the development, documentation and implementation of test plans and test cases. In addition, incumbents oversee the development and implementation of test automation scripts and participates in functional walkthroughs.This position usually informs a Director or Vice President about software development and the responsibility of software quality assurance.

Responsibilities:


Providing management and oversight to the staff and activities of the software QA team. Project management, supervision, and coordination of software testing for all assigned releases. 
Utilizing management skills of a small team specializing in QA
Communicating effectively with project leads and the development team
Conducting tests on a variety of sites thoroughly
Documenting bugs and issues properly
Identifying possible performance- and memory-related issues inside the software code, observe code discrepancies, and recommend changes to the software package
Maintaining QA documentation and guidelines
Researching testing best practices
Expanding knowledge of web development
Working with IT leadership to establish and/or improve effectiveness and efficiency of industry-best practices and QA standards, processes, and procedures, to ensure software quality and successful process-audits (including PCI, SSAE 16, and SOX 
Ensuring QA staff performs complex functional, system, performance, data, integration and regression/acceptance testing to support internal applications and customer-facing websites and related back-office applications that enable the organization to deliver high-quality software services to customers. Is responsible and accountable for driving the quality of assigned software releases. 
Preparing activity, progress and status reports regarding software QA activities for review by senior and executive IT leadership. Ensuring detailed reports on issues identified in QA testing, including steps to reproduce defects are provided to Development. 
Engaging with 3rd party vendors, clients, or partners to ensure interfaces are tested, diagnose and resolve issues, and ensure UAT is complete. 
Working closely with software development staff, release engineers, business analysts, database developers and product owners to diagnose technical and quality issues, identifying potential software limitations, resolving defects and verifying corrective actions. 
Working with other company departments to triage field-reported issues to be addressed by the development team. Suggesting improvements to methods, procedures and efficiencies that lead to better products and/or solutions. 
Ensuring appropriate level of test automation is planned and executed, to meet quality and cost objectives. 
Mentoring and providing guidance to QA staff; ensuring staff have appropriate training, skill levels, and expertise. 
Making strong contributions to the IT department knowledge and helping drive IT methodology and technical direction. 
Analyzing and reviewing business requirements, scope documents, and detailed functional requirements for proposed features and product changes; determining and providing QA testing effort estimates. 
Working in a team environment, selects appropriate techniques to solve challenging problems. Modifying or improving existing solutions by analyzing known procedures and applying novel techniques to determine appropriate actions. 
Ensuring accurate server setup and product configuration of the QA environment in collaboration with IT Operations. Maintaining performance and functional testing suites and tools, integrating enhancements as needed. 


Requirements:


At least 3 years of quality assurance experience in a software development environment.
Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Managerial skills.
Motivated self-starter.
Open and excited to learn new technologies.
Some familiarity with web-based development patterns, CSS3 and HTML5.
A thorough and deep knowledge of software QA design and methodologies. Must have the ability to apply knowledge and experience in solving problems that are complex in scope and require in-depth evaluation. 
The ability to set priorities and drive results, and track and monitor progress. 
The ability to define and refine QA processes and procedures, and the ability to implement best practices in the QA function. 
Expert level knowledge of the complete development process, including specification, documentation and quality assurance. 
Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with team members, within the IT organization, as well as with business staff outside of the IT organization. 
Excellent leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to the changing demands of the business. 
Strong understanding of concepts related to computer architecture, data structures, and standard programming practices. 


Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field
