Mainframe System Engineer
Baltimore, MD, On-Site (Remote Temporarily)
Both need Control M application experience and Govt project experience are preferred.
Description of work:
• BMC Control-M application, IBM JCL; JCL and REXX/CLISTs; RMF, SMF, IPCS, Abend-Aid, FileAid, SYSLOGs; MF SYSPLEX
environment. COBOL, Copybooks, InterTest, Endevor, VSAM, IDCAMS, SMS, CICS, creating test plan and recording
results, and web pages
• Perform analysis and provide recommendations for optimizing Mainframe batch processing.
• Provide Enterprise Architecture and/or enterprise-level projects guidance and recommendations.
• Optimize VSAM files to enhance application performance, understand batch and online scheduling dependencies, and
possess a strong background in CICS architecture and use.
Basic Qualifications: Minimum knowledge, skills, abilities needed.
• Bachelor's degree and 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 years of prior relevant experience.
• 5 years of experience or more as a Mainframe Systems Engineer
• 5 years of experience with BMC Control-M application
• 5 years of experience with writing and debugging JCL and REXX/CLISTs.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with the following:
• CICS, including PPT, PCT, FCT, AOR, FOR, PLTU, CEDF, CEMT
• ISPF/PDF, including 3.x options, JES, Control-M
• COBOL, Copybooks, JCL, CLIST/REXX, InterTest, Endevor
• VSAM, IDCAMS, SMS, FileAid, BLSR
• Strong grasp of the following concepts:
• VSAM dynamic REORG
• VSAM EXCP Optimization
• System Development Lifecycle (SDLC), including Agile and Waterfall
• Strong background in the following:
• Facilitating set-up of test environments
• Creating test plan and recording results, Data Flow Diagrams, Data base Schema, other documents, and web pages
• Strong communication skills and the ability to facilitate working groups.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Public Trust clearance.

• Knowledge of the following facilities or products is highly desired.
• Dynamic File REORG products, especially BMC IAM, CFA
• SAS 9.X, SMF types 62, 30-4, 30-5, 64, 110
• DB2/VSAM Optimization products
• WebSphere, Java, Restful/SOAP API, CICS interface, webMethods
• Data Modeling, including SQL, FTP, ETL, SQL Server/SSIS, MS Access
• Top Secret, RACF, or ACF2 user access/profiles
• Background in Enterprise Architecture and/or enterprise-level projects
• Understanding of Mainframe Infrastructure and processes
