Mainframe DB2 DBA role in Brentwood, TN_ Contract to hire

Base Activities
Participate in Business Continuity Recovery Services testing (i.e. Disaster Recovery)
Provide Monitoring and 24/7 oncall support for Database systems.
Coordinate and/or assist with installation, maintenance and upgrades of current, licensed Database system software.
Work with Application/Developers on SQL/Tuning and optimization. Strobe software usage is a plus for analysis.
DB2 Table and index tuning and Optimization.
Coordinate the diagnosis and resolution of Database system software problems as appropriate. This service includes researching, identifying, implementing and testing DBDC system software fixes on a timely basis. Problems and/or dumps deemed to be the result of application code will be turned over to the appropriate AD/M group for resolution.
Provide information about new and obsolete features associated with new releases of supported DBDC system software products to customer and other support groups (e.g. application programmers, analysts, customers, availability managers, account representatives) as appropriate. Provide information on generally available product documentation. (manuals, support web sites, etc
Provide required support for hardware, operating system, and related program products upgrades.
Provide Operator Procedures in support of database subsystems/regions
Provide input to automation groups to increase system availability, facilitate system monitoring and minimize manual procedures.
Provide vendor’s sample JCL procedures to application programmers for supported products as appropriate.
Communicate with focal points (e.g. DPEs, project managers, application programmers, and availability managers) as interfaces to the application and customer communities.
Respond to database system software related calls or pages from Operations personnel to assist with problem determination and resolution.
Assist IBM with review of database subsystem parameters and definitions affecting performance, capacity and usability.
Participate in the problem/change process.
Support approved database system decommissioning activities.
Provide base activity support for development and test systems
Execute Physical Database changes for new database object creations which may increase support requirements
