Job Title :: Jr. Kafka Developer Location :: NYC City, NY Type :: Contact Years :: 9+ years JD: The Middleware and Data Distributed Infrastructure L3 support team is part of the Enterprise Computing Services Organization at Client. The team manages and supports a variety of products/applications including MQ, Gemfire, Redis and Kafka. This position is for a technical operations specialist with global responsibility for managing and providing support for Kafka and Redis products. The successful candidate will be involved in day to day handling of change, incidents, escalations and problem management. This includes application server administration, technical troubleshooting of infrastructure and user incidents. The position requires on call coverage outside business hours one week a month. The hours will be adjusted within the team to accommodate for the extended coverage. The Data Streaming and Caching operational support role is responsible for supporting infrastructure that Morgan Stanley applications running on Kafka or Redis use to meet their data streaming/caching requirements. In addition this will involve supporting integration of data sources and targets that include on-prem and any Cloud Service Provider platform (Azure, AWS In this role, the support person will be responsible for supporting tools and automations that facilitate the creation and management of heterogenous subscriptions. Required Skills Hands-on Kafka or Redis experience Expertise with Python and Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, etc Experience with RESTful interfaces Experience with Agile development methodology and CI/CD Experience with tools such as Jira, ServiceNow Hands on experience as database user Main job responsibilities include: Production Management of Kafka and Redis plants Experience with Linux System Administration preferably Red Hat. Experience with monitoring and alerting tools. Experience with troubleshooting tools such as TCPdump and Wireshark. Process improvement by proactively identifying, analyzing, and improving upon existing processes. Excellent written and oral English Jira, ServiceNow communication skills. The candidate must be capable of writing documentation, making presentations to an internal audience and interacting positively with upper management, colleagues, and customers. Independent problem-solving skills, self-motivated, and a mindset for taking ownership. Operational concepts such as SLA, metrics, and alerts. Ability to work in a 24x7 global team. Interest and understanding of emerging IT trends Deep-diving into complex troubleshoots, implementing changes, and serving as an escalation point for the Level 2 teams. Creating and maintaining best practices / policies and ensuring that they are followed. Work with External vendors and internal key stake holders to develop the execution for changes. Participate in the weekly Review meetings and actively engage with various engineering teams to review the infrastructure.
