Position: Product Design Engineer

Location: Providence, Rhode Island

Job Description:

Job Responsibilities:


Develop prototype Cable/Cable Assembly/Connectivity designs and concepts in support of customer needs.
Review designs to meet all of the necessary performance specifications while being cost-effective. 
Develop Electrical Test, Ansys HFSS simulation, Power & Signal Integrity models & schematics, illustrations, and presentations as required to support customers/sales.
Work with various customers to identify needs, specify requirements, define project scope, and design cable and assembly solutions for Winchester Interconnect customers.
Lead engineering design and development activities, which include project coordination, concept development, scheduling, budgeting, hardware design, mechanical fixture design, design reviews, product qualification, maintenance of records, and other activities as needed.   
Lead, initiate and manage engineering project schedules through final production release collaborating with internal cross teams.




Criteria for Success:


Bachelor of Science Engineering– Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, Industrial.
Knowledge of Regulatory Requirements and their impact on process requirements. (UL, CSA, RoHS, etc.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce detailed Test/Validation/Verification engineering documents, presentations, and reports.
Strong oral and written proficiency.
Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills, demonstrating sensitivity to customer needs and the ability to work effectively with others to urgently address issues.




Technical Expertise


5+ years hands-on cable/cable assembly/connectivity product design, testing, measurements, Ansys HFSS Signal and Power Integrity simulation & High-Speed RF Coax and Twinax development experience in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with Network Analyzers (Impedance, skew, TDR, Insertion Loss, Return Loss, Cross Talk, Eye Patterns), Spectrum Analyzers, and Bit Error Rate Testers (BERT)
Design experience with extrusion process utilizing PVC, TPE, Nylon, Polyurethane, Fluoropolymers and Cross-Linked Polyethylene for copper conductor insulation and cable jackets.
Ability to pick up new technologies quickly and demonstrate proficiency, and expert understanding of technologies such as IoT, LiDAR, EV Charging, Robotics, etc.
Experience using Google Apps and G-Suite applications a plus.
