Position: Mainframe Developer

Location: Bethesda, MD

Duration: Long Term

4 days onsite


Summary
our client is currently seeking to hire Mainframe Developer. In this position, the candidate will analyze requirements, develop code, creates and execute test scripts, and debug application code in order to meet the operational needs.



Responsibilities


Analyzes operational tickets, determines the potential impact on other systems or functions, and conceives software solutions and/or processes to meet those needs.
Develops and debugs software solutions according to company standards using all necessary tools potentially including: COBOL, CICS, JCL, ORACLE, SAS, ORACLE, UNIX
Continually assesses changing needs and user requests against existing software and makes the necessary resource changes and enhancements, and tests the modifications for effectiveness and efficiency.
Actively participates, along with the IT Operations Team and the Customer Service Team, to support system users, evaluating potential bugs, answering questions, and generally helping provide world-class customer support to all customers.
May be required to support production after hours and on weekends (On-Call and/or system upgrade testing)
Provides estimates and helps set deliverable deadlines and manages to them.
Responds to incident tickets directly or as assigned as part of a production support responsibility.
Follows a repeatable methodology in the development, testing and assisting on implementation of application software and adheres to quality standards.
Provides timely and accurate status reports, including time reporting and adherence to level of effort (LOE) estimations, to IT management on the status of existing projects and outstanding project requests.
Develops and executes accurate and concise unit and integration test scripts.
Develops and/or modifies code at all levels.




Qualifications


BS in Information Technology or Computer Science or equivalent with a minimum of 7 -10 years of experience.
COBOL, CICS, JCL, ORACLE, SAS, ORACLE, UNIX experience.
Understanding and ability to participate in all phases of the SDLC including requirements gathering, business analysis, configuration management and quality control desired
Strong team orientation.
Exhibit integrity and high ethical standards.
Functions as a life-long learner and helps to promote the sharing of new ideas and new technology within the organization.
