Position: Quality Assurance Manager

Location: Rockwood, Tennessee

Duration: Full Time



The Quality Manager is responsible for providing guidance and direction for quality and product auditing resources and functions in the manufacturing processes of the plant. This includes, assisting and training in all areas of the manufacturing department on inspection and quality of the product. This position is responsible for ensuring that the company is meeting the customer requirements as spelled out by the products/services agreed to at quoting and contract review processes. This position is responsible for protecting the company’s interests in the market by supplying safe, dimensionally correct, and functional products. This position is also responsible for leading and directing the quality resources of the company.



The successful candidate will be expected to:

1.      Develop, oversee, and improve MPP’s quality systems.

2.      Conduct NPI activities. This includes reviewing of completed PPAP prior to submission, performing cleanliness testing for new product, and ensuring the correct quality control methods are in place.

3.      Enhance customer and supplier relationships through appropriate communication, documentation, problem-solving, and follow-up.

4.      Lead Corrective Action activities if there are any active issues in the manufacturing process, customer concerns and/or excess scrap.

5.      Attend Material Review Board meetings to create and develop detailed reaction plans to nonconforming product issues.

1.      Establish and implement metrics for monitoring system effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

2.      Review activities for the In-Process Inspection resources.

3.      Direct final inspection activities to ensure that product requirements are being met, direct resources where needed, provide guidance and final decision on product that is being prepared to ship to the customer.

4.      Perform walk through audits, internal audits, layered audits and 5S audits. Lead quality system surveillance audits.

5.      Lead IATF certification.

6.      Provide coaching and leadership for Quality Assurance department personnel. Carry out leadership activities such as hiring, training, appraising performance, motivating, and resolving issues.

7.      Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or Sr. Management.



Education and Qualifications:

8.      Bachelor''s Degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent.

9.      Must have 3-5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the powdered metal industry.

10.  Minimal five years’ experience in a quality control function, with experience in directing/supervising others.

11.  Experience within an ISO system. PPAP experience.

12.  CQE, CQM certification is preferred.

13.  Experience with Visio, MiniTab and SPC software.

14.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office and manufacturing ERP systems.



Working Environment and Conditions


The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
This position requires working in a manufacturing environment.
The employee may occasionally work nights, weekends, or non-regular hours.
