Role: Infrastructure Automation Engineer
Location: Phoenix AZ
Function Description:
The engineer will be part of a team that develops and executes infrastructure projects that automate Vmware VM provisioning, Linux administration, software deployment tasks and API integration with external systems.
These deployments will utilize tools such as GIT, Puppet, Vmware vRO, Python etc.
Knowledge of agile software development and release management is required.
Responsibilities: Develop/extend Puppet modules for automating environment deployments and configuration management
Creation and editing of code written in at least one of Bash/Python/Ruby.
VM Commissioning and Decommissioning - Responsible for aspects of standing up a virtual server in a new or existing environment, as well as removing systems from an environment at the end of service life.
The engineer will make sure all code written is to have test cases and is well documented.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of software development, release management and ci-cd is required. Good verbal and written communications skills. Customer Service - working with internal customers to agree on Solutions. Commitment to meeting objectives. Agile Practices Programming Languages and Frameworks Analytical Thinking Operating system Patching, Performance tuning, Unix shell programming, troubleshooting skills. Understanding of Linux Security, Desired Configuration Management.
Past Experience:
3-5 years of experience with system administrative scripting languages, for example Bash or Python is a must.
3-5 years with Linux automation technologies such as Puppet, Chef, Satellite, Ansible is a must.
Puppet is preferred.
Experience with REST APIs technologies
Experience with VMware vRealize Suite is a plus.
Experience supporting Linux/Unix systems in large enterprise systems requiring careful change control. Experience with software agile practices.
Experience with Google Cloud is an added advantage.
