Job Description: The Solution Architect is primarily an individual contributor but can be responsible for a small team. Main scope of work is to provide solution architecture development, consultancy and assurance to projects, making sure applications are well designed and conform to client standards and reference/segment architectures. Translates the guidelines and standards into practice and solves common technical challenges and provides technical recommendations which have a perceptible impact on local business performance; actively drives the identification, development and implementation of new technologies and opportunities to optimise technology/IT systems. Contributes to the training and guidance of other professionals in the field. May represent the Company externally as a subject matter expert with suppliers, customers and external agencies. Empowered to make decisions on solutions within guidelines. Applies TOE standards and raises step-outs if needed. Applies the standard architecture tools for creating and storing key architecture artefacts (IBM System Architect, PowerDesigner and/or ProVision); fosters re-use. Manages the relationship with a customer base on senior levels of business leadership JG1/2. Understands the IT Strategic Roadmap and applies it within the context of their organisational assignment. Future Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • The role is a hands-on technical skills role as the Project lead responsible for any technical duties with cloud computing including design, planning, management, maintenance, and support of Microsoft Azure focused on Integration on Azure workloads to Azure Active Directory.
  • The Solution Architect needs to collaborate with Suppliers and Organization staff to define IAM solutions and associated architectures to meet the Organization's business requirements.
  • They need to review and select appropriate Microsoft Azure solutions and when necessary define Organization standards, Integration Patterns, and practices to guide the implementation and maximum utilization of the solutions.
  • The IAM (Identity & Access Management) Architect is accountable for supporting the IAM Segment Architect in defining the current and target architecture and standards for IAM Solutions that are typically offered as services:
  • Identity Management, Authentication, Federation, Identity Governance and Administration, Access Control, Governance Risk and Compliance.
  • This is done in consultation with Organization Architects supporting other segments, Information Risk Analysts, L&R Compliance Analysts, Industry Standards Bodies and Consultants, as well as software and service suppliers.
  • The IAM Solution Architect provides guidance to other Reference and Solution architects on standards, deployment patterns and maintains the domain-specific architecture roadmaps.
  • The IAM Solution Architect supports the definition of the Organization Target Operating Environment reference architectures for IAM.
  • The IAM Solution Architect works closely with assigned supplier architect(s) and key Organization SMEs and stakeholders to determine the potential use of new technologies and solutions for organizations within this area.
  • The IAM Solution Architect steers the technical aspect of projects, assisting in product selection, consolidating services, consulting on the usage of IAM solutions, and retiring the legacy.
  • The IAM Solution Architect is responsible for generating and maintaining Technical Architecture Roadmaps for their areas of responsibility. Support the IAM Lead
  • Understanding of implementing and supporting Microsoft cloud services, including any of the following: Azure Core Platform (Compute, Storage, Networking) Azure Services Azure AD (Strong skills required) Azure Automation, and CLI Microsoft 365 Workspaceone / Endpoint Manager.

Required Qualifications to be successful in this role:

  • Expert in Azure conditional access experience including Authentication context, Device filtering set-up, and testing.
  • Expert in Azure Active Directory Architect and Engineer role focused on the Microsoft Azure/M365 stack.
  • Experience in Azure ADSync of devices and Users from Active directory in complex set-ups.
  • Full understanding of AD joined and Device joined concepts in Azure for devices.
  • In-depth Authentication flow knowledge for smartcards.
  • Have a strong understanding of more "traditional" Microsoft products, such as Windows Server, Windows, IIS, SQL Server.
  • Have experience with automation and PowerShell scripting.
  • Have demonstrated experience executing technical tasks in projects of varying complexity.
  • Have experience working with a Managed Services Provider or IT services consulting firm.
  • Have experience developing or supporting the development of business models.
  • Experience in coordinating projects is a plus Certifications within the Microsoft stack are a plus,

Skill Set – Years of Experience – Proficiency Level

  • Works with the business to determine and document the applicable data quality standards that the data used in the solution needs to adhere to.
  • Works closely with Data Owners to support data quality improvement exercises.
  • Works with other Architects to understand and document interaction between data and applications to determine current and future systems or records and resulting integration requirements.
  • Works with Process Architect and Business Analysts to understand the relevant business processes, and document relationship between process and data to ensure we know what roles create, update, consume and delete data throughout its lifecycle, both as-is and to-be.
