Job Description

  • Design component owner of hardware to be designed or modified; includes responsibility for all aspects of design - mechanical design, model/drawing definition, creating a bill of materials and releasing into PLM, supporting hardware procurement and manufacturing / assembly support. Work with Drafting, Sourcing & Manufacturing, and coordinate interfaces across Aero, Heat Transfer, and Materials, and Design teams
  • Analysis Building 2D and 3D finite element models of turbine components; running thermal, structural, modal or forced response analysis (with thermal and mechanical loads) followed by lifting (LCF, HCF, creep, oxidation, fracture mechanics), post processing of modal results (frequency/Campbell diagram creation) and rotor post processing (joint behavior, burst, and other rotor criterion); presenting in Design Reviews
  • Manufacturing shop support in dispositioning non-conformances, process/supplier qualifications, mfg. & assembly support

Skill Set / Qualifications

  • Person with unrestricted rights to access US Export Controlled information
  • >3 years of experience with Unigraphics
  • >3 years of experience with Ansys
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • The following qualifications are preferred:
  • Familiarity with design, analysis and manufacturing of gas turbine components like turbine blades, nozzles, shrouds, rotors, casings & combustion hardware
  • Familiarity with customer Design Practices, lifting methods & tools SIESTA, PREFER, iCreep
    Supplier to provide its own computing capacity, including high performance computing.
