Electrical Controls engineering related to Obsolescence Management

Summary:
Execute electrical and controls engineering tasks to release alternative part(s)/sub-system caused by potential lack of availability of current parts
Type of parts/subsystems involved:
Electrical and Electronic components used in circuit boards – like DC/DC supplies, processors, board components,
Electrical controls components used in control systems – like relays, wires, resistors, inductors, capacitors, displays, computer parts, push buttons, sensors
Electrical power components used in control systems – like motors, starters, filters

Typical responsibilities:
Design and release substitute part, including necessary documents, following Baker Hughes design program plan (DPP) process and using Baker Hughes tools like ePIMS, Creo. DPP level (technical complexity) determines the effort and process for releasing alternative part. Following table may be used to determine volume and part release cycle time:
Interface with engineering and CTH for design guidance and decisions
Interface with other functions like Product Line, Sourcing, Supplier and Commercial team to understand customer needs, schedule, priority and update status of various projects
Testing of replacement items may be required based on complexity of the item. In that case, need to write test plan based on requirements and execute tests in lab facility
Update engineering document and drawings as needed
Maintain the parts status in ePIMS and update BOM levels as needed
Implement process improvements in desired cycle time is not met
