Optum - .NET Web Developer

Remote

Contract to hire 115-130k

Project Scope / Components: The app in focus is called "Tracking Time". It is web based that is utilized by 35k, internal employees working on claims. The primary use case is tracing claims activity and reviewing productivity. All of the actual claim work is done in a separate software, but the employees enter information for tracking when they open a claim, put a claim on hold, close a claim, go to lunch etc. this provides notifications to Managers if its taking longer that it should to work on a customer claim to ensure that they have strong customer experience. The app also has reporting dashboards built in SSRS (SSIS to connect with the data).

At any given time, there are approx. 15k users using it at the same time and is utilized 24x7 (India, US, Ireland and others)

Application was adopted about a year ago, but it was built by a third party consulting company and they didn't build or provide any documentation on the design/architecture. In addition, they are no longer supporting the app

Development Methodology: Technically Agile, but not making major enhancements so they are not sprint based

Team Size: 2 people supporting it

High-Level Individual Duties:

  • 80-85% development or enhancements
    • Stored procs need to be defined
    • C#/.NET MVC services
    • They have performance issues as well so they need to figure out WHY
  • 15-20% SSIS/SSRS
    • There is no expertise there now not looking for new reports, just need someone who can get it back up and running when they have issues

Must-Haves (Concepts & Tools):

  • C# /ASP.NET framework MVC (5.0 or 6.0)
    • Entity Framework
  • SQL Server (migrating to 2019)
    • Stored Procs experience need to review and fix them / optimize procedures
      • Temp tables are created in the stored procs its very long and runs for an hour + (written 10+ years ago)
      • Views & Functions
    • Setting up tables, indexing etc.
    • Once the upgrade is done, they will implement a DB monitoring tool (RedGate)
  • JavaScript & JQuery / Bootstrap / CSS3 / HTML5
  • SSIS / SSRS (migrating to 2019)
  • Stellar communication skills

Nice to Have:

  • Angular JS
  • Chart JS
  • Splunk / Monitoring skills there is a DevOps / Infrastructure team
