*Primary Location: *195 Technology Dr, Irvine, CA, USA*Division: *Cox Automotive*Job Level: *Director/Senior Director*Travel: *No*Schedule: *Full-time*Shift: *Day Job*Requisition Number: *202103844Cox Automotive is currently looking for a Director of Site Reliability Engineering to join our team. *About the Team*As the Director of Site Reliability Engineering, you will lead a team of engineers (both direct and dotted line) responsible for making sure some of our most visible consumer-facing websites, Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader.com, are built, secured, and performing at their highest levels. *About the Position*Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is about driving a culture focused on empowering our Product and Engineering teams to deliver the reliable products, sites and services our customers expect. We are looking for an innovative thought-leader who has a passion and vision for creating a culture focused on security, reliability, and performance. The ideal candidate will have experience leading similar teams, evangelizing Site Reliability principles to their peers and leaders, and enjoys enabling our teams, all while aligning to and influencing our broader Enterprise-wide SRE strategy. In taking on the role, you will play a critical part in evolving our reliability strategy while leading a team of site-reliability engineers focused on partnering with our Product, Architecture, and Engineering teams to deliver on that strategy.You will need to have a strong engineering background including Devops or formal SRE experience. Extensive technical knowledge in the development, delivery, and implementation of critical solutions and expertise in the values and principles of SRE including SLI/SLO, Error Budgets, reduction of toil, observability, release engineering is a must to be successful in this role. You will have a demonstrated ability to develop, communicate, and execute your vision resulting in the adoption of practices, tooling and mentorship that will ultimately strengthen and maintain our leadership in the automotive marketplace.*As a Director of Site Reliability Engineering at Cox Automotive, you will:** Influence the evolution of our SRE strategy including the integration of SRE concepts and principles into our standard delivery and operational processes * Influence, inform and align with our Enterprise-wide SRE strategy* Continue to build and lead our SRE organization, including attracting, hiring, and retaining key engineering talent* Drive adoption of SRE principles and enable the delivery of highly-reliable solutions for both internal and external customers * Maintain an understanding of internal and industry capabilities and opportunities, while acting as a thought leader, and identifying, developing, and driving adoption of forward-thinking capabilities enabling SRE adoption in our delivery and operational processes* Improve our use of SLI/SLOs and Error Budgets, remove Toil and increase Observability* Lead the execution of Production Readiness reviews Qualifications: * BA/BS degree in related field and 10+ years of technology and software engineering in a complex and fast-paced business environment (ideally an agile environment), or equivalent combination of education and experience * At least 5 years experience in a leadership role or equivalent work experience and education* 7+ years of experience coding and delivering software as a team member* Software engineering and software architecture skills* Team player with attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills* Eager to dig into problems and bring proposed solutions* Travel variesWho We Are*About Cox Automotive*Theres nothing ordinary about Cox Automotive.
