NG911 ESiNET Network Engineer

 Location: NYC

Role Description:

 

The ESiNET Network Engineer will be responsible for providing Subject Matter Expertise in NG9-1-1 ESiNET technology areas such as VOIP, SIP, digital voice and common network technologies.

 

Scope of Services:

  • Participate in design activities and ensure quality controls on all ESiNET designs, compliance to standard depicted by the City, APCO and NENA.
  • Report all quality control issues to the NG9-1-1 program manager and all agency representatives.
  • Review all network design components, all ESiNET services, as well as ensure all developed interfaces and satisfy all agency requirements.
  • Define global enterprise network architecture, recommending and validating new emerging technologies, and ensuring that the end to end strategy aligns to business and technology goals that address business needs for the 9-1-1 call taking and dispatch environment.
  • Possess detailed understanding of the NG9-1-1 i3 VoIP standards, and develop configuration templates that align with best practices.
  • Development and design of highly available, tightly integrated, secure, flexible, and fault-tolerant networking systems for NG9-1-1.
  • Detail design needs for QoS on various Cisco platforms, IPv6 dual-stack, and multicast designs.
  • Generate conceptual, logical, and physical network architectures, test plans, requirements, use cases, and interface control documents to ensure the design and delivery of network LAN/WAN architecture that conforms to application and user requirements.

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be considered

  • A good understanding of Oracle SBC and B2BUA configurations and reference architectures.
  • A Subject Matter Expert in Enterprise Integration and design of Mission Critical 9-1-1 systems is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and clear business writing skills as well as interpersonal skills.
  • Experience Firewall technology particularly Palo Alto Networks is a plus.
  • Experience in methods and best practices in detailed engineering in voice and network development.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a particular technical and/or business application, product, platform, methodology or skill set.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience as a lead Engineer in either a technical domain or 9-1-1 systems platforms.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience VOIP/Standard PBX Voice.
  • Organization, creativity, flexibility and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously under tight deadlines.

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Advanced knowledge of general IT systems and services, such as DNS, NTP, LDAP, VoIP, AD domains, proxy services, etc.;
  • Hands on experience designing, implementing, and supporting routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP), network security technologies (firewalls, VPN, DDoS mitigation, IOS base security practices, etc.), load balancers, VMware virtualized networking, VSAN (FCoE), optical WANs;
  • Knowledge of configuration management and automation best practices,
  • Network engineering and security architecture experience
