Snowflake Database Engineer

Location- MN Location or Austin, Texas Location is preferred but not really mandatory.

The Snowflake Database Engineer is responsible for maturing the Snowflake Datawarehouse environment within the clinical organization. The successful candidate will be part of SRE group ensuring the Datawarehouse environment in Snowflake is Production ready and ready to support Business critical applications.

Primary Responsibilities: Creation and maintenance of warehouses, databases, roles and users Manage and properly size virtual warehouses Proactively monitor environment(s) Ensure proper security protocols across all environment(s) Provide support to development, data modeling and reporting teams Support deployments in Snowflake warehouses using CI/CD framework Part of SRE team and OnCall rotation Coordination with project teams, DBAs, various other department resources

Prepares project scope document, project plan and issues log for the implementation of a new database or complex enhancement to an existing database. Develops and implements test plans that are comprehensive and inclusive of the problem to be resolved. Plans should include testing logic to produce successful and failed outcomes Consult on technical solutions that include design, high availability, data models and schema objects Other duties as assigned

SNOWFLAKE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS

8+ years of experience in implementing Data warehousing solutions with at least 1 year in Snowflake 1+ years Hands-on experience with Snowflake utilities such as SnowSQL, SnowPipe, Python, Tasks, Streams, Time travel, Optimizer, Metadata Manager, data sharing, and stored procedures 1+ years Azure Cloud experience 1+ years Infrastructure as code development using Terraform Must have hands on experience with user management, role-based access, and multi-factor authentication (MFA) Must have experience with virtual warehouses and sizing Understanding of Snowflake specific data types Experience optimizing the data load processes Must have experience with backup and recovery Performance tuning and troubleshooting Must be able to work within company Database and Change Management procedures and standards Troubleshoot issues and outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends Participating in an on-call rotation Must have CI/CD experience using Jenkins Adherence to healthcare industry compliance for database security configuration We cannot provide sponsorship upon conversion

What does the team make-up look like - how many members and what is the break-down of the teams skill sets (ex: 1 PM, 4 Developers, etc.)? 7 Members in Global Location - 6 Cloud Engineers, 1 DBA 7 Members in US location - 1 DBA, 1 PM, 5 Cloud Engineers

What skills/attributes are nice to have? Experience managing large datawarehouses

What are the work hours? (ex. 9am-5pm, day/night shifts, rotating shifts, etc) 8 am - 5 pm, But expectation is the individual will be part of OnCall rotation. For that week - coverage is 12 hours (9am - 9pm)
