Db2 SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER
Location - Remote USA
Shift: 2:00 pm cst to 10:00 pm cst
This job is during odd hours and they have to be motivated to figure things out on their own.
Please pay attention that for the role of DB2 Systems Programmer the validate candidates MUST have strong experience with MULTIPLE LPARS AND A Db2 SYSPLEX, it should be reflected in the CV
This position is for an In-Office or Remote worker on a contract-for-hire basis. The qualified candidate will be expected to work a base 40 hours a week, Sunday afternoon/evening (15:00 - 23:59 Central Time) for production change implementation, and 24x7 on-call rotation.

Please be aware that I'm NOT looking for a Mainframe Db2 Application Programmer or a Mainframe Db2 DBA. I'm looking for a Db2 SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER - the individual that installs and administers the Db2 SYSTEM SOFTWARE. I have included an extensive list of requirements. Prior to sending any Resumes for me to consider, please MAKE SURE THE CANDIDATE MEETS ALL OF THE REQUIREMENTS. I would rather receive 1 qualified candidate than 30 who are either DBAs or Application Programmers. If you do not know how to differentiate between an Application Programmer, DBA, and Systems Programmer, simply go through the Resume and find the REQUIREMENTS I have listed. Then, if you do identify a candidate based on the REQUIREMENTS, VALIDATE THE INDIVIDUAL HAS BEEN DOING THIS WORK FOR A MINIMUM OF 10 YEARS AT A LARGE-SCALE MAINFRAME SHOP WITH MULTIPLE LPARS AND A Db2 SYSPLEX.
Skills
Must have
- Demonstrated knowledge and fully proficient in the use of TSO and ISPF
- Demonstrated knowledge of z/OS, primary operations console operations and commands
- Demonstrated understanding of JCL and ability to create and modify JCL job streams
- Demonstrated understanding of z/OS dataset configurations and the ability to properly allocate various dataset configurations
- Experience working with all types of z/OS file types and file systems Including PDS/PDSE and VSAM
- Has responsibility and capability to work multi-platforms including z/OS, LINUX, and Windows
- Practical understanding of SMPE and how to use it
- Experience with zFS including allocation and related Unix commands to manage the space
- Experience working with ITSM processes including Incidents, Change and related processes
- Familiarity with Configuration Manager a plus
- Ability to work independently
- Interprets policies and applies experience
- Ability to work as a team player in both a partner role and mentor as appropriate
- Experience working with Vendors to create/manage support tickets including describing the issues, gathering, packaging and uploading documentation and follow up as needed

- 10+ years of mainframe systems experience, with specific concentration in the Db2 Software Administration/PLM area, working in a large z Systems environment:
o Multiple Parallel SysPlex configuration
o DB2Plex
o CICSPlex
o Multiple physical z Systems machines
o Multiple Production LPAR environment
o General Processors / zIIP Processors
- Proven ability to cover the 24x7 on-call rotation
o Available for the on-call frequencies based on team size
o Ability to work in an atmosphere with heightened pressure and visible to all levels of Leadership
o Ability to work effectively in an Incident 'War Room" scenario partnering with other teams on the initial root cause determination
o Ability to follow all processes and procedures in this environment
