Sabre is currently recruiting for a Database Specialist / Administrator to work in Washington, DC. 

 

Project Overview: We are seeking a Database application and systems administrator to provide support to modernization, redesign, maintenance, and operations projects focused on new or existing database structures for major business systems. In this role, the duties include but are not limited to: database design, implementation, and maintenance of complex databases within their data dictionaries; defines the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases; performs technical reviews on data elements, preparing reconciliation recommendations and backup materials; creates complex SQL statements, where applicable; develops backup and recovery procedures, designs database security, and configures database storage devices; monitors database performance and tunes databases for optimized performance. Installs systems software and database engines; troubleshoots complex database-related problems; supports database connectivity for web-based applications; plans for upgrades/system release implementation; may identify, determine the feasibility of, and analyze the costs and benefits of alternatives for new database technology; provides technical guidance to less experienced developers.

Minimum Technical Qualifications:

6 years’ experience
Developing applications in SQL and PL/SQL
Creating and managing database resources
Database backup and recovery procedures
At least 5 years’ experience
DBMS configuration management and controlled introduction of new system releases, system/product upgrades in a production environment including databases, database access software, DBMS utilities, etc.
At least 4 years’ experience
Database performance measurement and tuning.
At least 3-4 years’ experience
Administration of database security, including the monitoring and maintenance of user access
Use of tools for data modeling and logical and physical database design
Configuration and optimization of database storage devices
Designing and implementing relational databases to support complex database systems and applications
At least 2 years’ experience
Supporting database connectivity for web-based applications
Experience identifying, determining the feasibility of, and analyzing the costs and benefits of alternatives for new database technology
 

Desirable Qualifications (but not required)

The use of version control software or software migration routines
Project experience with Agile frameworks, DevOps or other iterative development methodologies
Experience in multiple test and production environments
Experience with the BLS standard IT development products and environments
Knowledge of BLS surveys and systems
Specific experience developing statistical systems
 

Contract Requirements 

If a foreign national, Visa must be up-to-date and demonstrated work experience here in the US for three (3) or more years 
Must be eligible to obtain Special Sworn Status – Title 13 & 26 clearance through US Census Bureau (if required to support development)
