Database Administrator - Level 3 Toronto, ON Start Date 2021-04-01 End Date 2022-03-31 Description MSP Intake Notes We are looking for a resource who will be working on a modernization project. Must Haves (please read the full requirements) Oracle databases versions 8, 9, 10g, 11g, 12c, and 19c. Oracle in Solaris 8, Solaris 9, and Solaris 10 environments running on Sun Platforms, and RedHat Linux environment. Nice to Have ITIL A note on Assignment Type: This position is currently listed as "Hybrid", however, the consultant will be remote due to COVID-19 related Work From Home (WFH) direction. Once the IT cluster staff are required to return to the office, the resource under this request will be required to work onsite as well. A note on Extension/Amendment Attestation: Extension(s) only allowed using unused days/funds left on contract. No additional funds will be added beyond maximum contract value Responsibilities Creates physical database designs, and operates and administers the database management system (DBMS) including database optimization, capacity planning, installation and migration, database design, performance tuning, backup and recovery. General Skills Experience with one or more operating systems Experience with one or more database technologies Experience in one or more programming languages Experience in the use of information retrieval packages and proficiency with query languages Experience in monitoring and enforcing database rules Experience in Incident, Change and Configuration Management procedures Experience with one or more communications protocols Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills; verbal and written communication skills; and interpersonal skills A team player with a track record for meeting deadlines Desirable Skills Experience with distributed data systems Experience with middleware and gateways Awareness of emerging IT trends and directions Experience with Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices Experience in Database Administration, Maintenance Optimization Skills Experience and Skill Set Requirements Experience & Skill Set Sustainment of Large Database Systems: 30% 10+ years of experience in deploying and administering Oracle databases within a operations environment. 5+ years of DBA experience supporting Oracle databases for large mission-critical enterprise solutions. 10+ years of experience designing, making recommendations for, and implementing high availability database environments. Working knowledge of migration strategies for Oracle databases versions 8, 9, 10g, 11g, and 12c Experience with Oracle in Solaris 8, Solaris 9, and Solaris 10 environments running on Sun Platforms, and RedHat Linux environment. Solutions Leadership: 20% 10+ years of experience in designing, developing, deploying, and sustaining large implementations based on the Oracle Database product Experience with ITIL processes such as Service Level Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Release Management, and Capacity Management Problem Management and Incident Management: 10% 10+ years of experience with triaging, analyzing, diagnosing (trouble-shooting), evaluating options, and resolving database problems. Quality Assurance: 10% 10+ years of experience with quality control and assurance methodologies and practices as applied to the implementation of database with over 10,000 records. Experience with Change Management and Release Management as processes supporting the implementation of large applications.
