Role: Data Analyst

Location: Detroit, Michigan



Must have prior payer/provider experience with large data sets, the ideal individual will have 8+ years of industry experience and be responsible for the successful technical delivery of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence projects using a formal project management methodology. They will also have experience with enterprise architecture, new technology implementation, research and evaluation of emerging technologies, strategic technology planning, consulting, software validation, business support, and health care industry.

Qualifications:



Prior experience with the healthcare industry with strong knowledge on Claims and membership data is required.

Excellent knowledge in writing and analyzing complex SQL queries is required

Require prior working knowledge in Business Intelligence Center and should have performed data analytics on a daily basis as a primary role.

Flexible in adapting to new roles (technologies) and working on multiple projects simultaneously

Understand Data warehouse concepts and functionalities. Understanding of SCD functionalities

Knowledge of Informatica, ability to read/analyze existing code and be able to propose innovative solutions and modifications.

Understand the Cognos reporting tool (framework / Studios/ reporting)

Understand the structure/concepts of DataMart’s (facts and dimension tables)

Experience working with Big Data Technologies (Hadoop, Hive, and Sqoop) preferred

Have the expertise to acquire, manage, manipulate, and analyze data and report results.

Ability to work with multiple areas within the organization to get business objectives, data requirements, etc.

Identify problematic areas and conduct research to determine the best course of action to correct the data

Analyze and solve issues with current and planned systems, processes, data feeds, etc.

Interpret data and develop recommendations based on findings



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



Provides strategic planning and comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to IT senior management and senior technical staff.

Evaluates compliance with the organization's technology standards.

Guides and consults with IT management and technical staff regarding the use of emerging technologies and associated services.

Participates in the evaluation, selection, and application of new and emerging tools and techniques.

Has wide latitude in determining creative solutions to strategic and operational needs.

May have managers, support staff and senior technical personnel reporting to them.

May lead or direct an organization responsible for a segment of the work performed by the IS division.

Directs, motivates and develops managers and other key personnel who report to them.

Working independently within guidelines, responsible for initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing application and system implementation projects using a formal project management methodology.

Typically manages multiple, highly technical projects of small to moderate size and risk concurrently. Oversees the full lifecycle system development process.

Develops detailed plans and schedules, including goals, risks, and resource allocation.

Monitors project metrics for significant deviations in quality, cost, or schedule.

Assists in establishing and improving project management methodologies, procedures, and policies.

Provide high level and detailed estimate for projects

Must be able to present diagnostic, troubleshooting steps and conclusions to a varied audience

Adheres to Project Management Office policies, procedures, and methodologies.

Coaches and mentors individuals on the project teams and provides feedback on performance to their leaders.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment.

Mentor team and help with day-to-day technical questions

Supervising and/or assisting the continuous enhancement and support of existing Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence solutions

Seeking out and championing new business intelligence initiatives with company stakeholders providing long term value.

Analyze and solve business problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context.

Track record of success in a fast-paced development environment



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE



Data Analysts with prior Client or other provider experience who are able to triage the identified data issues, work with other SMEs in our area to perform Analysis, and determine what is needed to move the tickets forward

Bachelor’s Degree required or Minimum eight (8) years related Data Analyst experience.

Health care experience is required

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES



Business Intelligence Background in large scale system integration and data mart projects.

Healthcare experience is required.

Prior consulting experience preferred

Experience in one or more of major ETL tools such as Informatica, DataStage, SAS and their administration

Experience in one or more of major BI Reporting tools such as Business Objects, Hyperion, Cognos, SAS, and their administration

Experience in one or more of major metadata tools and their administration

Experience in one or more of major data modeling tools such as Erwin, Data Architect, Oracle Designer, and their administration

Experience in one or more databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server.

Experience in UNIX shell scripting, PERL, and JAVA preferred.

High Microsoft Project skills with PMP is a plus.

Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

A high proficiency level in specific job-related skills is required.

Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job.

Experience in data warehousing/Business Intelligence (SQL, ETL, data warehouse, Cognos, etc and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting

Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills.

Utilizes solid knowledge of the Project Management Institutes standards and terminology.

Extensive creativity required across areas of expertise.

Other related skills and/or abilities may be required to perform this job. Prior large, complex project management and delivery management experience a plus

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS



Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and basic algebraic functions. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.



REASONING ABILITY



Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
