Role: Naval Architect Location: Norfolk, VA Duration: Full time with benefits Salary: Negotiable Job Description Actively seeking a Naval Architect to provide technical support for the Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) Code 242. The position will be located at Naval Station Norfolk, VA. Essential Responsibilities: Conduct/technical evaluations of structural analysis and load calculations to ensure the sound design and compliance meeting US NAVY requirements. - Specialized experience in troubleshooting and assessment, repair, and maintenance of ship structures on US Naval ships. - Specialized hands-on experience working and inspecting ship structures, tank, voids, intakes/exhaust systems knowledge of welding requirements. - Demonstrate knowledge about sheet metal, preservation, insulation, piping and electrical systems on Naval Ships. - Utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for reviewing and compiling information for data entry and transferring files and electronic/digital scans. - Communicate effectively in writing and orally. - Experience in maintaining, organizing, tracking the status, and prioritization of engineering documents (both physical and electronic records Minimum Requirements: - Must possess a 4-year Engineering Degree from an Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) school with an emphasis on Structural Design or Naval Architecture. - Minimum of eight (8) years general experience performing structural analysis and load calculations to ensure the sound design and compliance meeting US NAVY requirements. - Demonstrate a working knowledge of Navy assessment programs, visit processes and reporting methods for visits. - Demonstrate regularly using accepted current instrumentation for diagnosing equipment. - Demonstrate the ability to interpreting ship diagrams and schematics. - Ability to utilize computers including the Microsoft Office Suite for compiling information for reports and history files and transfer digital pictures from camera to computer and enhance as required and label them for report purposes. - Ability to document all findings and recommended corrective actions into the approved Navy databases (i.e. 3M or CADET) - Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally. - Minimum of four (4) years of specialized experience in the assessment, repair, and maintenance of ship structures on US Naval ships. - Minimum of four (4) years specialized hands-on experience working and inspecting ship structures, tank, voids, intakes, and exhaust and have knowledge of welding requirements. - Have knowledge about sheet metal, preservation, insulation, piping systems on Navy Ships. - Current (within three (3) years) hands-on experience with this equipment.
