Job Title: IT - Server Engineer - Advanced Level Location: Spring , TX Duration: 12 months Must-Have Skills / Experience (in order of preference): 1. Working experience in WINTEL platforms (OS v2008/2016, AD, DNS, TS, NTP, FTP, SMS, WSUS, SMTP, MS SQL) 2. Strong in VMWare Virtualization, VCenter, Symantec EndPoint Protection software 3. Familiar with DELL server hardware including iDRAC, DELL PowerVault storage & CISCO devices 4. Has knowledge of CISCO devices and basic Networking skills (Operations or Security) Work Description: Assists with the design, implementation and maintenance of the computer and network infrastructure. Prior experience and professional degree required. Entry technician performing Level 2 or Level 3 support. Supports continuous operation of servers & network globally on WAN/LAN network. Skills include monitoring server activity, perform routine/emergency Microsoft OS patch upgrades, build adhoc servers per customer's request, troubleshoot access issues and account administration. Overview about the Hiring Team & the position: Our team supports the Windows for Process Control infrastructure (servers, network, applications, storage) on L3 network for 6 Upstream sites globally and close to 60 Midstream terminals in Canada, US, AP and Europe. Besides day-to-day server health monitoring, we are also involved in new site rollout, expansion/upgrade of existing infrastructure and troubleshoot issues with vendors & onsite engineers. Test & certify new products in the lab, develop associated design, installation, operation, planning & upgrade documents for the product will be part and parcel of the role. Playing a leading role in a project is not unusual. Day to Day Responsibilities of the Contractor: The role is similar to a Site Admin providing Server Operations & Technical Support. Tasks include server health monitoring includes reviewing system alerts for any ad-hoc issues resolution, ensuring infrastructure is not end-of-life, licenses are up-to-date and servers have the latest patches and running the latest antivirus scans. For the Midstream Operations, candidate is expected to setup the WPC infrastructure for new terminals according to the project timeline. We are adopting Agile and utilizing Kanban for workload management, as such prefer candidates with similar exposure to Agile methodology. Job Requirements: Candidate should possess Computer Science / Computer Engineering degree and preferably an active Site Admin from Server Operations or Systems Engineer who has performed Server Engineering & Technical Support. Familiarity working within a process control environment is highly desired. Nice to have Skills / Experience - Familiar with batch & VB scripting. PowerShell scripting knowledge would be an added value. - Familiar with any backup hardware e.g. QNAP backup Each contractor would be needed to work the 12-hour support for 1 week, before it's rotated with the next person on the following week. We are planning to provide an on-call support phone which will be used to receive urgent calls during the on-call support hours. This phone needs to be passed on to the next person on Monday. If there are issues still not resolved by 6PM, they are supposed to conduct a warm handover to their colleague in KL who will be taking over the on-call support from HOU 6PM onwards.
