JD: Resource Need: Azure Cloud Engineer (5 openings) Onsite/Remote: Remote to start, eventually onsite, some people are still going into office today Work Hours: 8 am to 5 pm PST Start Date: ASAP Duration: 6-12 month (with possible conversion depending on performance/budget) Interview: Sold working interview No 1st Teams Technical 2nd Teams Personality/culture fit Start Closer to Systems Admin 3/Azure Engineer 1 this would give us level of experience to have seen enough stuff and have understanding of what it is there Must-haves: Experience establishing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines highly desirable Experience using industry standard tools, such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, etc. highly desirable Azure: adjusting t-shirt size of servers, configuration items, modify load balance algorithms, deal with changes that normally would take place e.g. outages incidents, find source or resolution, open ticket back end side, break/fix Azure: Primarily managing what already exists, new build stuff is automated, finding log errors, keep environment safe and clean, running through it Exp with day-to-day management of Azure environments (not a developer or someone with strictly migration/theoretical) Day-to-day: 100+ applications each one has own platform 3 teams that currently do this stuff Get up to speed on uniqueness of application to understand nuances but fielding modification requests for platform in those environments Adjust t-shirt size of servers, configuration items, modify load balance algorithm, changes that normally would take place e.g. outages incidents, find source or resolution, open ticket back end side, break/fix Primarily managing what already exists, new build stuff is automated, finding log errors, keep environment safe and clean, running through it Some apps are true Azure native PowerShell scripting, transferring new build to terraform, ongoing management/on-prem stuff is Ansible Terraform completely build out environment and script it out Ansible to build out new net app cluster Linux world is 10%, half are appliances that we don't normally touch need base Linux understanding to have intelligent convo and run basic commands Position Summary: Azure Cloud Engineer will engineer solutions to design, build and maintain scalable IaaS and PaaS systems. Responsible for the analysis, development, modification, installation, testing and maintenance of systems software. The Cloud Engineer is responsible for end-to-end solutions within Azure and continuously create improvements and automation to enhance the durability, performance and maintainability of the platform. Duties: Experience and/or certifications with Microsoft Azure. Understand how to setup & administer Azure based servers. Work with Microsoft's various portals and administration areas to support, monitor and design Azure based hosting environments. Ensure products are delivered referencing CI/CD pipeline Automate repetitive tasks Develop self service and on demand capabilities Agile development environment especially SCRUM using Microsoft VSTS Act as a change agent for the IT Operations culture by helping define the automation strategy that allows for increased operational readiness within a set of methods and tools that provide speed, scalability, reliability and security. Defines and discerns key aspects of problems that require analysis and research, and develops an integrated solution within a broad technical and business context of significant or strategic impact to the enterprise. Modifies and prepares technical documentation for the best practices and systems software applications Required to support an on call 24 x 7 cloud production environment. Performs other duties as required Requirements: Experience establishing continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines highly desirable Experience using industry standard tools, such as Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, etc. highly desirable Experience using Azure highly desirable Experience with programming and/or scripting languages, such as Python, Bash, Powershell, etc. Experience with general web server and application server administration, e.g. nginx, IIS, etc. Comfortable with UNIX/Linux and Windows administration preferred Experience building and supporting cloud native applications a plus Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem solving skills Must be able to multitask in a fast-paced environment with focus on timeliness, documentation and communications with peers and business users alike Experience with project management Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels within or outside the organization (executives, regulators, clients, etc Results oriented, business focused and successful at interfacing across multiple organizational units Education: Two (2) year college or equivalent Experience: 5+ years in industry; 2+ years in cloud.
