Position: Azure Cloud Engineer

Location: Houston, TX

Duration: Fulltime

Position Description:

  • The Azure Cloud Engineer position stays up on the latest technologies and deployment strategies both in the cloud and on premise.
  • Core functions include assessing existing deployments for remediation efforts for performance, cost, and security. Designing greenfield solutions and processes.
  • The project that this position works on would lead to best practice procedures that are passed on to the managed services team to implement and enforce throughout all the client base while being a subject matter expert resource for those teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and manage technical requirements and business functional requirements to establish new Microsoft Azure cloud platforms and infrastructures
  • Execute assessment, migration and implementation plans to deploy Azure infrastructures and move workloads to Azure using native Azure migration tools or third-party tools
  • Participating in work sessions with clients and deliver advisory and or training sessions on different technical topics or aspects of the project implementation.
  • Documenting projects including design, asset inventory, diagrams, and sometimes PowerPoint Keynote presentations are required
  • Assist with the management, support, and oversight of the virtual server environments and business continuity processes during the lifespan of this project.
  • Assist with managing, maintaining, monitoring and securing (including data security) of all servers including installations, upgrades, patches and documentation.
  • Must be able to work across the enterprise to coordinate with the various stakeholders.
  • Accountable for meeting deliverable commitments including schedule and quality compliance.
  • Assist client support personnel in the remediation of production issue
  • Administrating Windows and Linux Servers, automating deployments, and scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python)
  • Configuring backup automation, monitoring, and alerting systems.
  • Support client efforts to integrate to the platform by providing technical subject matter expertise
  • Facilitate after hours deployment efforts as needed
  • Attend departmental, project and general meetings and effectively represent current status as appropriate

Skills:

  • At least Three (3) years' experience and proven success in Azure design, support and management within a large-scale organization.
  • Dealing with infrastructure assessments, consolidations, migrations, transformations, and optimizations of dedicated, multi-cloud, and hybrid environments
  • Migrating or deploying infrastructure using the Azure Portal or Code (Azure Resource Manager, CLI or PowerShell, Bash or Python)
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure service structure and core features
  • Sound conceptual and hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Azure Services including:
  • Compute (Virtual Machines, App Service, Scale Sets, Azure Functions)
  • Migration (Azure Migrate, Azure Site Recovery)
  • Networking (Virtual Network, Application Gateway, Azure DNS, ExpressRoute, Load Balancer, VPN Gateway, Azure CDN, Traffic Manager)
  • Storage (Azure File Storage, Blobs etc., File Sync)
  • Identity (RBAC, Management Groups, Azure Active Directory, Azure AD MFA, Azure AD Conditional Access, Azure AD Identity Protection, Azure Active Directory Connect, SSPR, SSO)
  • Security (Azure Security Center, Qualys, Trend Micro)
  • SIEM (Azure Sentinel, Splunk, etc.)
  • Monitoring (Azure Log Analytics Workspace, Azure Policy, Azure Network Watcher, KQL, Azure Monitor)
