DevOps Engineer II
Remote-
The Cloud Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and contributing logical/conceptual/physical Cloud-centric application infrastructure designs. The Cloud Engineer has the technical wherewithal to perform required technical duties associated with public and private cloud computing environments. The Cloud Engineer is security conscious, technical oriented, and is versed in the DevSecOps Infinity disciplines. The Cloud Engineer has exception al IaC (Infrastructure as Code) and CaC (Configuration as Code) implementation/remediation skills. The Cloud Engineer understands industry software development and deployment practices inclusive of the standard software development lifecycle and deployment patterns with minimal user impact and system outage. Senior level position requires a seasoned professional with multi-year experience and proficiency in field. Note title will be commensurate with experience.
What You Will Do:
The Cloud Engineer will be accountable for:
Working knowledge of architecture and design and deployment of solutions using cloud-based technologies aligned to Amazon Web Service and/or Azure.
Serve as a hands-on technical Engineer providing key technical direction focused upon design, development, and implementation of strategic technological directives.
Performs issue remediation and futureproofing of complex infrastructure-centric environmental software and subsystems as well as existing IaC and CaC code (ARM, Terraform and/or CloudFormation)
Follow defined Change Control practices, drives DevSecOps practices across team inclusive for pre/post deployment testing practices
Follow and/or augment existing risk management practices
Contribute knowledge to assist team in making informed technical and business decision
Document, both in code as well as external user/developer centric platforms (Confluence, etc.) infrastructure pattern design and implementation material
Contribute knowledge to assist team in making informed technical and business decision
Contribute knowledge to assist in the reduction of toil across platforms
Promote automation-first mindset across the Agile Team as well as Engineering organization
Ensures conformance and compliance with existing system standards
Measures subsystem/application performance post-deployment aligned with SRE oriented practices
Mentor less experienced Cloud Engineering resources
Participant in Code Review sessions
Continually self-educate on DevSecOps practices, maintains technical relevance
Follows and ensures adherence to technical standards for programming and design techniques
Adjust within Sprint to unexpected concurrent demands, shifting priorities, and rapid change
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
6+ years with IT solution delivery Engineer experience and hands on experience with public, private and hybrid cloud services including planning, development, migration and integration of applications and services from on premises infrastructure to cloud based platforms
Greater than two years hands-on experience with Terraform and/or CloudFormation, ARM Templates, AWS Config, AWS Inspector, Guard Duty, GitLab, Containers, Kubernetes, Serverless Concepts in general required
Greater than two-year hands-on experience with Python and/or Golang or other interpretative languages highly desired
Greater than one-year hands-on experience with Logging/Metric collection, Subsystem/Application Monitoring, Ansible a plus
Excellent communication skills: interpersonal, negotiation, creativity, attention to detail, and oral and written communications skills tailored for the intended audience.
Associate Level Resources having AWS Cloud Partitioner or Azure AZ-900 certification a plus
More advanced titles require AWS Solutions Architecture and/or AZ104 Azure Administrator Associate
AWS Certified Developer, AWS Certified Security Engineer, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer and/or AZ500 Azure Security Engineer Associate desired
