Job Description

We are seeking an experienced IT Asset Management (ITAM) Lead Specialist who will oversee and optimize the lifecycle of hardware and software assets across the organization. This role requires deep expertise in asset governance, compliance, procurement, vendor coordination, and operational process improvement. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience implementing ITAM best practices and tools, driving cost savings, improving asset visibility, and ensuring alignment with audit and regulatory standards.

The ITAM Lead will collaborate closely with procurement teams, finance, security, IT operations, service management, compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure accurate inventory, contract management, and lifecycle control. This individual will lead process design, reporting, automation, and continuous improvement within the asset management program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the end-to-end lifecycle management of IT hardware and software assets, from planning and acquisition through deployment, maintenance, and retirement.

  • Maintain and enhance asset management frameworks, policies, standards, and governance models.

  • Ensure compliance with licensing, vendor contracts, audit requirements, and security policies.

  • Manage asset inventories, purchasing records, renewals, warranty information, support contracts, and tracking systems.

  • Oversee software license optimization and cost reduction activities, including renewals and vendor negotiations.

  • Partner with procurement, finance, and IT leadership to forecast needs and support budgeting strategies.

  • Implement and maintain ITAM tools and CMDB data standards aligned with ITSM processes.

  • Develop dashboards, status reports, audits, reconciliations, and analytics for executive visibility.

  • Recommend process automation, optimization improvements, and technology upgrades.

  • Lead and mentor ITAM staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams on asset-related initiatives.

  • Support internal and external audits, remediation activities, and compliance reporting.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 12+ years of experience in IT Asset Management or related IT operations leadership.

  • Strong working knowledge of hardware and software lifecycle management processes.

  • Experience with asset management tools such as ServiceNow ITAM/CMDB, Flexera, Snow, or equivalent.

  • Proven background in software license compliance and vendor contract management.

  • Strong analytical, documentation, problem-solving, and financial management capabilities.

  • Ability to manage large asset inventories and complex environments in enterprise-scale organizations.

  • Solid understanding of procurement practices, IT budgeting, and cost optimization strategies.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to partner with technical and non-technical teams.

  • Experience working with ITIL frameworks; ITIL certification preferred.

  • Ability to lead projects, define standards, and drive operational efficiency.
