Job Summary
The position is a full-time assignment within the MB-DMI (Model-Based Definition, Manufacturing & Inspection) team in the Quality organization. MB-DMI is a transformation initiative focused on deploying processes and technologies based on 3D modeling and automation, integrating them into product definition, manufacturing, and quality inspection activities.
Cutting-edge technologies such as 3D scanning, high-precision CMMs, and other advanced tools are leveraged to significantly improve lead times, quality, cost, and engine performance.
The selected candidate will be responsible for automating part inspection using 3D scanning, from interpreting engineering requirements to extracting measurements from scanned parts. Additional projects may include developing inspection plan generation tools, databases, and dashboards.
The position is onsite at Plant 1 in Longueuil, Quebec.
Key Responsibilities
Develop Python code to read and interpret digital inspection requirement files in various formats (XML, YAML, CSV, TXT, etc.).
Convert inspection requirements into standardized objects in commercial metrology software such as GOM and PolyWorks.
Export inspection results from metrology software into Excel reports and dashboards.
Apply applicable standards and regulations governing part inspection.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Automated Production Engineering, or a related field.
Advanced knowledge of Python, particularly Pandas, and environment management tools such as venv and pip.
Basic knowledge of Git and GitHub.
Basic understanding of mechanical design and engineering drawing tolerancing; GD&T
Skills in linear algebra, 3D geometry, and point-cloud / STL file management.
Experience with metrology software (GOM, PolyWorks)
