Job Summary:
The Accessibility Tester will support the Office of Information Technology (OIT) applications by ensuring they comply with accessibility standards and provide an inclusive experience for individuals with disabilities.
Project Goals:
Identify accessibility issues in assigned OIT applications.
Ensure compliance with accessibility standards such as WCAG 2.1 AA and Section 508.
Provide actionable recommendations for remediation of identified accessibility barriers.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive accessibility testing, including:
  • Manual testing using assistive technologies (screen readers, keyboard navigation, etc.).
  • Automated accessibility testing using appropriate tools.
  • Reviewing design specifications and wireframes for accessibility.
  • Report accessibility defects with detailed reproduction steps and recommended solutions.
  • Collaborate with development, business, and QA teams to resolve accessibility issues.
  • Participate in accessibility review meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • Deliver detailed accessibility test plans and test reports.
  • Document accessibility best practices and guidelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accessibility standards.

Deliverables:

  • Accessibility test plans.
  • Accessibility test reports (including severity and recommendations).
  • Defect reports in OIT's defect tracking system.
  • Summaries of findings and progress updates.
Reporting:
  • Directly report to Christine Coakley, Manager Enterprise Applications.
  • Provide regular status updates through SH weekly notes.
Acceptance Criteria:
  • Deliverables will be reviewed and approved by OIT's designated representative to ensure they meet requirements and quality standards.
Qualifications:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of OOPS concepts.
  • Hands-on experience with API and Webservice Testing.
  • Good understanding of traceability matrix, test strategy, and test planning.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and Jira process.
  • Platforms: Java, Mobile-PWA, Salesforce.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform hands-on testing.
  • Write detailed test scenarios and provide estimates for test planning.
  • Review technical and business documents to prepare test cases.
  • Follow accessibility checklist for the testing team.
  • Document all findings and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Provide expert advice on accessibility best practices and remediation strategies.
  • Adhere to project timelines and OIT quality standards.
