Role1: Accessibility Specialist: Digital and Document Accessibility
Location: Princeton, NJ (Hybrid-3 days in office)
Mode of Hire: Full Time Permanent
Accessibility Specialist: Digital and Document Accessibility
This resource will influence and coach teams to include accessibility in the digital products and documents. This candidate will serve as an in-house testing and remediation specialist while working with the publishing and technical team to create accessible products.
Specific roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Under the guidance of Accessibility COE leadership, collaborating with the partners and product owners to execute the corporate accessibility strategy across the board to create accessible products and services.
  • Perform accessibility audit and recommend solutions to fill the accessibility gaps based on WCAG standards, ARIA best practices, and PDF/Universal Accessibility as well as compliance with the ADA, Section 508, the 21st Century Communication and Video Accessibility Act.
  • Test and evaluate software tools from accessibility and usability perspectives. Understand design principles, guidelines, and relevant policies, including web accessibility standards.
  • Collaborating across roles throughout the product design lifecycle to ensure accessibility in design system and be an accessibility advocate throughout the process.
  • Identify new opportunities to support and contribute to the growth of the accessibility Center of Excellence
  • Creating custom training for colleagues and clients based upon emerging standards and technologies.
  • Experience in Assistive technologies such as Screen Readers (JAWS, Voice-over, NVDA, Chrome-VOX), Keyboard Accessibility, and Braille (Good to have)
  • Experience in automated accessibility tools such as WAVE, Axe, and Accessibility Insight
  • Understanding of the product management using Agile methodologies including testing, documenting, and prioritizing defects
  • Consultation - consult with clients on both a technical level of how to resolve issues as well as helping develop processes and content governance.
  • Testing and Planning - work with clients to determine the testing environment, requirements, and goals. You will test systems against a mixture of automated, specific manual tests, and assistive technology tools.
  • Reporting / Documentation - deliver results of accessibility audits and tests as well as participate in follow-up communication with clients.
  • Protocol Development - contribute to internal processes to improve our support process for customers and end users.
  • Educate - help foster knowledge and growth in both internal and external communities.
