Cox Communications is searching for a Access Engineer for the Access Engineering Sustaining Team. You will be primarily focused on automation and scripting, supporting the Access Network as it pertains to fulfillment and Service Assurance activities. To be effective, we need you to be familiar with and have an understanding of Docsis and the supporting elements in the network. You will need to have a background in automation and scripting, to include Python, Ansible, SNMP, Kubernetes and like programs. You will also need strong communication skills and ability to work with teams across boundaries, both in person and virtually. This role will be pivotal in our success to efficiently meet business objectives on our roadmap.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Defines requirements, develops automation widgets, tests and validates functionality and deploys - trains end user for adoption.
- Creates test plans; tests and validates functionality, management, and performance for existing & new technologies.
- From a tooling/Automation viewpoint; Conducts equipment evaluations, equipment selection, pilot testing and network designs to ensure reliability and scaled expansion of the network.
- Assist in preparing engineering cost analysis to optimize return on investment
- Creates work package/MOP that enhances technical operation, complies with rules and regulations, and permits the deployment of new technology.
- Supports deployments of new services, systems, applications and architectures with automation and scripting to facilitate installation, configuration, integration, evaluation, testing, documentation, and training.
- Partners with change management for impact identification, network validation, MOP creation and execution of activities.
- Provides telecommunication automation solutions to increase operational efficiencies and expand network services.
- Defines and compiles the methods of procedures and documentation to support personnel in the installation, maintenance, and removal of network equipment.
- Collaborates with vendors to create designs and procedures that ensure proper equipment installation and operation.
- May manage intermediate level projects with Operations and Engineering to confirm delivery intervals and validate critical dates and milestones to ensure delivery of services stay on target.
- Coordinates with other departments to ensure the network is available and configured to exceed market demands.
- Facilitates communications with employees and other departments by holding or attending meetings, preparing reports, and participating on task forces.
- May perform reliability studies and assessments to ensure Cox is the Trusted Provider.

Qualifications:

Minimum:
- 2 years of experience in related field (i.e. Programing, Engineering, Technical Operations) or academic equivalent training or projects.
- 2 years of experience and working knowledge of Python, Kubernetes, Ansible, SNMP, Docker/Containers and Linux
- Demonstrated problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
- 1 year experience developing and maintaining detailed network designs and documentation
- 1 year experience troubleshooting and diagnostics

Preferred:
- BS/BA degree in related discipline strongly preferred (i.e. Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical degree).
- Certifications: NRS II, CCNA, JNCIA
- Experience in telecommunications industry desired.
- Experience leading projects to enhance the network capability for existing and future services
