THE DAY TO DAY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide data extracts in TDE, CSV and Hyper formats in Tableau Servers from operational and enterprise databases
Operationalize data flows for continuous data provisioning with up-to-date data, designing, developing and assisting in implementing interactive dashboards, analytic and reporting solutions.
Mentor/provide knowledge transfers and create outreach programs to raise the level of skills in data preparation, reporting, visualization and analytics across user community.
Main focus will be preparing and providing data to the visualization team using Tableau Prep Builder and managing data flows within Tableau Servers using Data Management Add-ons and Tableau Prep Conductor.
Work visualization, dash boards and reporting initiatives using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Servers.
Primary Duties:
Implement data provisioning, reporting and analytical solutions using Tableau Prep Builder, Tableau Desktop and Tableau Servers.
Provide data as TDE and Hyper extracts in Tableau servers using Tableau Prep Builder.
Create data flows in Tableau Prep Builder and prepare data after loading, combining, shaping, and cleaning data from operational databases
Publish, share and run data flows in Tableau using Tableau Prep Conductor.
Implement and manage full and incremental data refresh options for data extracts using Data Management Add-On capabilities within Tableau Server environments
Work with visualization and reporting team members to design best solution for providing data from normalized operational databases to de-normalized data extracts using integration and aggregation , for sharing and using data flows.
Design/development of Business Analytics and Self-Service reporting solutions for complex business scenarios using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Servers.
Collaborate with users to create Tableau data visualization objects/custom dashboards
Analyze/document end-user data needs and data transformation logic, create logical data models, and partner with solution and data architects to identify data extract needs and build data extracts from operational databases.
Analyze/document end-to-end dashboard, reporting and business requirements - logical data model, data sources, security needs, metadata, and preferred visualizations
Guide data stewards/governance team members in the collection of metadata and document in metadata management tool - upcoming enhanced cataloging capabilities using Tableau Data Management Add-on capabilities in Tableau Servers.
Assist users to configure Tableau Server sites, including security models, data integrity, and report distribution, scheduling, and auditing functions
Work with technical and infrastructure team members, help diagnose and resolve customer issues with Tableau software and server components.
Assist with upgrade, and testing for Tableau Desktop, Server, and Data Prep tools.
Assist with creation of end-user test plans and assist users with their testing.
Determine user training needs, and conduct mentoring and knowledge sharing sessions towards building a strong user community for self-service reporting and analytics.
Analyze self-service reporting architecture, exception data processing, process controls, troubleshoot and recommend improvements and alternate methodologies for maintaining scalable governance practices around self-service reporting solutions.
Participate in data flow and architecture reviews and ensure alignment to architectural and requirement specifications.
Explore opportunities by advising and completing proof of concepts for implementing embedded analytics by integrating Tableau BI capabilities directly into the Line of business, Partner and Member Portal applications.
THE SKILLS YOU NEED TO GET THE JOB:
5 years as a Tableau Developer and Analyst using Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server
3 years using ETL tools for providing data to data warehousing and BI tools
Strong SQL skills to create complex joins in MS SQL Server Databases
Certifications in Tableau and other leading ETL/BI software preferred
Strong analytical and technical skills in working with data and visualizations
Understanding of business domain data requirements, user task flows, and objectives to create design solutions for visual data delivery and analysis
Strong technical skills to publish, schedule, and refresh (full, incremental) reports, flows, extracts and workbooks using Tableau Server
In-depth experience with Visual Analytics with ability to create clear Tableau visualizations, charts, and graphs
Knowledge of working with Tableau Prep Builder and Tableau Prep Conductor tools
Design and implementation of intuitive, feature-rich Tableau BI interfaces/ dashboards
Solid experience designing/ implementing user-friendly and dynamic Tableau dashboards with features such as KPIs and drill functionality, and chart styles like Heat Maps and Scatterplots that best visualize the data
Strong experience using Tableau functions - calculated fields, parameter controls, hierarchy, groups, sets, dashboard actions, filters, and annotations
Experience managing the BI project life cycle, from requirements gathering to determining best-fit solutions, and designing and developing prototypes
Ability to develop prototypes and wireframes from business requirements to bring simplicity and context to complex designs
Ability to identify trends and patterns in data to provide actionable insights, and understand data visualization concepts
Detail-oriented investigative and problem-solving skills
Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with business users and technical team members
Experience with Agile methodologies
Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science or Management Information Systems
