Client is a fourth generation metal, glass, and wood architectural products subcontracting company. They are looking for an experienced Structural Engineering Manager to join our team!Job Purpose: The Structural Engineering Manager is responsible for developing structural engineering methodologies and processes for all stages of architectural products project execution from tendering through detailed design and field related activities. This role requires in-depth knowledge and experience with codes, regulations and specifications as they relate to a range of materials such as steel alloys, architectural bronze, glass, stone, etc. within the custom architectural metals industry. The Structural Engineering Manager must work with Sales, Designers, Manufacturing, Procurement and Site Installation to ensure structural designs and analysis are coordinated to allow for highest possible global efficiencies. The Structural Engineering Manager will be directly responsible for supervising the work of other Structural and Project Engineers in the Engineering Department. The Structural Engineering Manager is required to collaborate with other department management in the creation of project budgets and schedules, and then work with the project execution team to complete all scopes of work per the project requirements.Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with designers, architects and other engineers to develop and test project designs.Reference all applicable codes, standards and judgments to develop appropriate criteria for projectsConduct detailed reviews of specifications, and architectural/structural documents during pre-construction or award phase of projects to communicate all structural considerations and modifications as required for project budgeting and planning.As required, review proposed performance mock-up testing procedures and develop all additional testing plans as it relates to internal or vendor prototype and material testing.Participate during testing and generate testing summary reports.Utilize all codes and standards applicable to design with building materials such as steel, glass, and wood.Apply project specifications to the analysis and design of project assemblies and material selection.Create complete calculation packages within the submission schedule that will be reviewed and approved by consultants, architects, and engineers of record.Prepare responses and updates to calculation packages based on returned comments on submission.Manage outsourced structural engineering as required. Review third-party calculation packages for submission, along with budgets, change orders and schedule.Periodic visits to site to inspect installed scope and prepare reports covering all structural concerns.Mentorship and management of other structural engineers required including recruitment activities.Other responsibilities as required by ManagementQualifications:BS in Structural EngineeringLicensed P.E. in the states of New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Massachusetts, Maryland, Pennsylvania and California preferred.7+ years’ experience within the analysis, calculation, and structural design of design/build architectural products.In-depth understanding of architectural and construction design concepts including processes of manufacturing and site installation.Ability to read, understand, and navigate architectural and structural contract drawings.Ability to read, understand, and navigate AIA job specifications.Experience AWS welding procedures, including tracking and pursing AWS WPS, PQR, and WPQR certifications.Engineering management experience, including hiring of new engineering employees, training new employees, department budget and cost tracking, managing the engineering schedule of work, hiring engineering firms as needed, sending purchase orders, and tracking engineering change orders.In-depth experience with calculation software like MathCAD, Tekla-Tedds, or EnerCalcCapability with 2-D and 3-D FEA packages such as IES- Visual Analysis, Ram Elements, Strand-7, SJ Mepla or similar.Basic ability with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks is preferred.Ability to travel as required (Approximately 1 day every month)Strong spatial visualization skillsJob Type: Full-timeExperience:Engineering Management: 2 years (Required)Structural Engineering: 5 years (Preferred)License:PE (Required)Work Location:One location
