Job Description: Sr. Product Owner Consultant – Digital Customer experience

Looking for a Sr Product Owner with a passion for writing effective business requirements. Ideal candidate takes pride in attention to detail and writing business requirements that capture all aspects of digital product development. Candidate should be excited about creating great digital experiences that impacts millions of customers on customer facing applications and digital experiences. As a Business Systems Analyst, you will work across business, marketing, and product stakeholders to gather requirements and write user stories for our development teams. This role will also work closely with our technology development partners to ensure the user stories are built out for desktop, tablet, smart phone, and app users

Responsibilities

Facilitates requirements sessions with business stakeholders and product owners. Has understanding on how projects align to broader organizational goals and business benefit.

Transforms product strategies into user experiences for desktop, tablet, mobile, and app. Owns the creation of user
stories and acceptance criteria. Becomes SME on features and functionality to be developed.

Facilitates functional and feasibility discussions with technology partners (e.g. architecture, sprint teams, Test) to
understand trade-offs with the goal to build the best user experience.

Assists Portfolio Management with tracking project progress (e.g. user story completion, sprint progress)

Provides SME leadership and consulting support on assigned product areas

Provides mentoring and coaching to junior analysts.

Leads department process improvements initiatives.

Qualifications


5+ years in leading or participating in full, end-to-end software development lifecycle; preferably developing web
properties/app for desktop, tablet, mobile (as opposed to infrastructure, ops, or back-office applications

MUST: 1-3 years’ experience working on initiatives/projects under an Agile/Agile-like model; sprint, kanban, iterative,
MVP, etc. This role needs to understand the development cycle and drive toward hitting key milestones.

MUST: 3-5 years’ experience in writing business requirements; 1-3 years’ experience in writing user stories; nice to
have experience writing in Gherkin format.

Experience with Agile Tools. Have used, or at least familiarity with agile tools like Rally to write user stories, track
progress, etc.

Experience with either leading or participating in creative design sessions. Experience designing workflows to ensure a great user experience.

Technical Acumen. Working understanding of web technologies. Comfortable having technical dialogue with various
technology teams: Dev, Middleware, Test, etc.

Storyteller. Able to capture and communicate (written and verbal) the user experience journey and how it will change based on the business needs.

Presentation skills. This role involves weekly presentations. The ideal candidate should be comfortable to present ideas / requirements to a small-medium size audience. e.g. BAs are expected to lead sessions with technology partners and present topics such as: business need/rationale, requirements, user stories, etc. BAs are also expected to discuss their ideas or rationale with Business owners on a variety of topics: e.g. explaining how the functionality works today (w/o the technical jargon), influencing partners or decision makers on alternative solutions, etc.

Functional Experience. 3-5 years’ experience working on projects that enable customers to interact with their account in
a digital ecosystem; e.g. managing one's account settings, buying/changing products and services, etc.

Industry Experience. 3-5 years’ experience in Telecommunications / Mobile Industry is nice to have. This could also be any adjacent industries such as cable/satellite, media, etc.

Minimum of 3 to 5 years of systems analysis experience with understanding strategic business information systems
Working understanding of BSA best practice and principles; demonstrated ability to apply BSA principles required.

Must be proficient and have experience using MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Visio

Experience with a variety of collaboration tools (e.g. Confluence, Clarity, Jira, Rally, etc

Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to balance multiple priorities.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree. Computer Science, Business, Finance, or equivalent experience. Masters preferred

Certificate in Business Systems Analysis or equivalent work experience (e.g. Business Analysis Professional CBAP)
