This is an application developer position and will be working in an Agile environment. Responsibilities include delivering quality solutions through analyzing, coding and testing. Required skills include test driven development, pair programming and re-factoring code. Candidate should also possess solid communication skills and demonstrate a strong desire to learn new technologies and development practices.
Job Description:
1. We are pushing content tags from repositories into the Term Store via a tagging solution (ie: BA Insights We have a known risk around server refresh as impacting, but this should enhance capability not limit it. Otherwise, we might run into capacity issues as we start to crawl content, or rather push content into BA Insights for tagging to the term store.
2. We need someone who is basically a Microsoft/SharePoint Engineer that can build a search engine configure our existing SharePoint installation specific to marketing content that lives within the targeted repositories (Tridion, Kaltura, SharePoint, FileNet, as critical
3. We understand that NW is shifting to a new search, but we are running with SharePoint 2013. Our solution needs to sustain for 2 years. We do not want to blend a future state with known state. We are building on known state and serving the marketing requirements.
4. Look to make MCP work first, then look to enhance/migrate once the search capability is more stable.
High-level skills:
Server set-up
Infrastructure setup, configuration
Knows Microsoft platform (ie: Brian Jackett) (Specifically the 2013/2016 SharePoint Search Service)
Search engineer expert (I would say something like at least 6 years SharePoint administration and development experience)
Search scopes setting and capacity planning toward scalable and efficient crawling schedules
Incremental Intermittent v. full-index crawls.
Specific Expectations:
Optimize and design the search schema in SharePoint Server; add, edit, delete crawled properties, property categories and managed properties in the search schema
Extend and optimize the search center, .NET ISAPI REST API, Inside Integration endpoints using JavaScript/HTML/CSS/JSON
Optimize search relevance using the Search administration portal in Central Administration
Configure crawling to optimize the existing hardware to keep costs down while extending the capability to account for the needs of MCP
Review and optimize the search topology as required
Fluency with Microsoft Search diagnostics, fiddler tracing in conjunction with full and incremental crawling, authentication methods and concerns
Integration with various content repositories that will not have consistent API’s
Ability to architect a search solution and document all levels of the decision making, build, test and deployment process
Documentation related to creating a support model for the local team going forward as issue arise
