JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position reports to the Server Infrastructure manager and is an advanced technical position. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical Oracle RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of the City's applications. Work as part of a successful matrix team of IIS/Web Administrator, SQL Server DBA and Server Engineers.
Required:
An eight-year combination of education and/or experience in information technology which must include at least four years of professional experience with Oracle RDMS Administration and proficiency with Oracle 12c and RAC on Unix and Windows environments.
Experience with Oracle Applications Solutions offering products and their integration with eBusiness Suite R12.1.
Use of Oracle Enterprise Manager and other equivalent tools.
Experience with Oracle Financials and HCM – SaaS Solution.
Responsibilities:
Manages Oracle databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical
production systems.
Configures and maintains database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance,
to ensure high levels of performance, availability and security.
Extensive experience and in depth knowledge of application administration and strong DBA background in Oracle
eBusiness Suite.
Applies data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and
performance expectations.
Independently analyzes, solves, and corrects issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
Refines and automates regular processes, track issues and document changes.
Provides 24x7 support for critical production systems.
Performs scheduled maintenance and support release deployment after hours.
Conducts periodic database restoration and recovery to ensure viability of backup methodology.
Performs cloning of database to development environment for application and database tiers.
Strong database administration (installation and database creation), Oracle Real Applications Clusters (RAC),
Performance tuning, and Backup and Recovery skills in Oracle 12c on UNIX (Linux, AIX) and Windows environments.
Oracle eBusiness Suite installation, patches and upgrades. Includes Oracle and Vertex software.
Oracle eBusiness Suite user maintenance and administration.
Proficient with JAVA
When performance issues arise, determine the most effective way to increase performance including server
configuration changes.
Serves as subject matter expert for IT projects, products and services.
Conducts proactive maintenance of IT infrastructure with minimal supervision including maintaining high level of
systems availability, monitoring systems performance and reliability to mitigate outages and system interruptions,
managing tools for providing early warning and alerts, and monitoring system capacity utilization and taking proactive
steps to avoid over utilization.
