Windows Server Admin with COTS exp
Duration of engagement: 30 months
Location: Albany, NY


Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Act as technical Point of Contact to perform Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) application installation and configuration (with or without vendor) and identifying technical solutions to execute the requirements of the business.
Act as a Windows Server Administrator to analyze, troubleshoot and resolve operational incidents with large scale NYSDOT systems
Provide advanced Technical / Analytical support using tools like Splunk for log analysis, and make recommendations for OS, Database and Networking configuration tuning.
Act as Windows Server Administrator to perform COTS application upgrades within normal and/or outside of normal business hours
Manage COTS application installation and configuration on Windows platforms, IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic
Provide advanced Technical support using tools like Wireshark, Process Monitor, netstat, ping, traceroute, telnet etc. to troubleshoot application and connectivity issues.
Provide advanced Technical support of COTS application interfaces & system interconnects (Networks, Stealth firewall software) to diagnose connectivity issues
Perform systems management and optimization tuning for operational system implemented with high availability configurations.
Perform scripting (Batch, WMI, Perl, Powershell) and automate the System/OS jobs.
Act as 3rd level technical support for NYSDOT applications
Work with business areas to gather and understand business requirements and translate to technical requirements for implementation
Use a ticketing system to track and manage incidents, service requests, problems and changes.
Provide on-call support for various DOT systems during Emergency events where DOT is in Emergency Management mode.

Systems Architect
Defines the architecture of a computerized system (i.e., a system composed of software and hardware) in order to fulfill certain requirement, including a breakdown of the system into components, the component interactions and interfaces (including with the environment, especially the user), and the technologies and resources to be used in the design.
Skill Level – Senior – 60-84 months - Candidate is able to work independently, without assistance and provides guidance to others. May have an advanced education.

1. 72 months experience as a Windows Server Administrator to perform Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) installation, configuration, troubleshooting (with or without Vendor), and L3 Technical support on Windows 2008/2012/2016 platforms, IIS, Tomcat, WebLogic, and Authentication including Active Directory, SSO with SAML v2.0, and OpenID.
2. 72 months experience performing Analytical and Technical support of COTS application interfaces & system interconnects (Networks, Stealth firewall software, F5 and Load Balancing) to diagnose and resolve connectivity issues
3. 72 months experience performing Analytical and Technical support using tools like WireShark, Process Monitor, Netstat, Ping, Traceroute, TelNet, etc.
4. 72 months experience scripting repetitive management tasks such as application data processing, workstation and server maintenance, Active Directory maintenance and modification using Batch, WMI, Perl and/or Powershell
5. 48 months experience performing Analytical and Technical support using tools like Splunk for log analysis, system monitoring, and system performance tuning
6. 48 months experience working with business areas/customers to gather and understand business requirements, and translate to technical requirements for documenting a system design, implementation and configuration
7. 48 months experience using a ticketing system to track and manage incidents, service requests, problems, changes, and release/deployment
