Role: Mid-level DBA
Location: Mechanicsburg, PA
Required skills: DB2 DBA, Hands on experience on Query Tuning and optimization.
3+ years of experience with DB2 SQL development and DB2 administration
Experienced in analysis, architecture, design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, and maintenance of database systems
Experienced in supporting very large, complex automated systems using both custom and off-the-shelf enterprise and business applications.
Good in database design and development, as evidenced by the following:o
Experience working with IBM PureScaleo Experience working with IBM Data StudiooCandidates have experience with DB2 UDB for Linux
Good in the database design, development, and administration-related concepts, methods and tools such as PDM, LDM, DDL, SPs, Index analysis, Normalization and de-normalization,Referential integrity, Locking Strategies, Reporting Tools and analytical processing (OLAP)
Proficiency in writing SQL procedures, functions and packages for administration and application support and experience with Q replication, Range partitioned tables, Hash partitioned tables, Replicated MQT and MDC
Experience in working with db2 specific tools such as db2pd, db2dart, db2support, db2top, db2inspect, db2advis, db2explain, db2diag• Experience providing appropriate Database Performance tuning support with regards to storage I/O, buffer pools, query access plan assessment and creation of required database structures including indexes• Experience in DB2 LUW purescale installation and configuration, including upgrading and patching
Should have strong UNIX platform skills and understanding of network, storage, tiered application environments and security
Experience in HADR/Q-Replication Configuration• Good interpersonal skills along with effective communication (both written and verbal) skills• Must be self-driven and a team player with a solid work ethic
Responsibilities: : Plans and implements strategies and procedures for physical disaster/recovery and contingency planning. Establishes mechanisms for replicating production databases in development environments
Provides problem resolution support, specific to database issues; identifies and resolves database problems, coordinating with application users to determine symptoms and ensure accurate problem definition
assists in development and improvement of database administration
