Position : IoT Applications Solution Architect
Location: Detroit/Livonia, MI
Full Time position
Summary of role:
Owns the architectural decisions for the team
Works closely with the rest of the team to create a modular & scalable solution that addresses future architectural changes and designs
Will drive the team’s engineering practices in test driven development, continuous integration, and automated deployment
Responsibilities:
Designs the overall technological architecture of the product
Mentors and coaches the technical team, specifically with code reviews
Engages in coding to help the team to develop his solution and solve all surfacing problems at hand Identifies and removes technical impediments
Works with Product Owner to align the roadmap with strengths and opportunities within the technical stack
Constantly looks for better ways of solving technical problems and designing the solution, not afraid of challenging the status quo
Provides the team a roadmap for implementing software engineering practices for higher code quality
Shares responsibility with Product Owner for building reusable and scalable components
Typical skills, and background
10+ years of software development experience, seen as an expert within the technical components of the domains/products/journeys
Excellent understanding of Java tech stack and experience building cloud applications (Azure preferred) using various technologies. Experience building fleet management and other IoT applications highly desirable
Seasoned developer or technical lead with deep insight into newest technologies and trends. Can make architecture decisions at a team and product level
Experience working on projects that span multiple organizations and business units. Experience in Agile Development, with specific Solution Architect (or similar) experience preferred
Strong communication skills with ability align organization on complex technical decisions
Active coach and mentor whose goal is to grow the team’s potential
Mandatory Skills:
- Needs to know some key Azure PaaS services – Should have deep experience in at least 2-3 of these areas: Ingestion (Azure data factory, Databricks/Spark experience), Connectivity component (IoT Hub PaaS service), Transformation of data, Storage of data (Azure data lakes), Visualization of Data (PowerBI, SQL database)
- Concepts – resource groups/subscriptions
- Should be able to architect use case to connect to sensor, ingest, process+ store, visualize, analyze etc… on the Azure data platform…pulling in sensor data from a vehicle – should be able to put together an end to end solution architecture to it
