Location: San Jose, CA
Type: 6 Months Contract
Job Summary
Manage and support 24x7 production Hadoop/SPARK platform. Ensure maximum availability of database resource and optimal performance.
Perform the DBA related tasks in key areas of System Administration, Database Administration, Backup, Archive & Restore Management, and Performance Management & Reporting.
Performance monitoring and tuning, Problem determination and resolution, security management and audits.
Key Responsibilities
Manage Production/Development databases in the following areas
System/User Monitoring
Space Management
Security Management
User Management
First Level User Support
Batch failure remediation
Production release management
Hadoop/SPARK DBAs
SPARK performance tuning and Hadoop cluster efficiency
Health check of a Hadoop cluster.
Monitoring availability and outage escalation.
Analyze storage data volume and allocating the space in HDFS.
User/objects & access rights management
Managing and reviewing log files. (Hadoop, SPARK, Presto)
Conversant with JIRA ticketing system/production change request Incident management.
Exposure to basic Data Warehouse architecture. Knowledge of ETL/DI/BI Reporting.
Basic Qualifications
Engineering Graduate
3+ years of DBA experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in the English language.
Must be willing to provide 24x7 on-call support on a rotational basis with the team.
Skills & Attributes
Working experience as an DBA supporting Hadoop and SPARK
Unix, Java, SPARK and HDFS skills.
Good presentation, communication skills.
Desirable Skills
Understanding of Normalization and De-normalization concept
Ability to write efficient SPARK SQL & exposure to query tuning.
Should have good working knowledge on UNIX shell scripting.
Should be good at automating various processes.
Should be good at users/objects/rights management.
Experience in a Data Warehouse environment: Including ETL, Tableau, SAS and Microstrategy
