Job Description:
Linux systems administrator position to manage the infrastructure environment that consists of Ubuntu, CentOS, and Debian machines running a number of services including nginx, JIRA, Apache, Jenkins, Drupal running under VMware. In addition, the candidate will also be administering a number of machines that build source code for various open source projects and managing application/web servers as well. Candidate is expected to debug issues, perform maintenance like security updates, dispatching tickets, information security audits, server equipment setup, and repair.
Strong Lead System admin who is a good delegator, good at mentoring and managing pipeline of tasks and training their team.
Primary Skills:
Experience with Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian Linux distributions.
Experience with Virtualization (VMWare)
B.S or M.S in Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering, or Computer
Engineering or equivalent on the job experience
Ability to lift, move and repair/install server equipment in racks and complete wiring jobs.
Secondary Skills:
Experience administering production Linux servers, serving multiple users.
Experience with a public cloud providers like AWS or Azure
Experience with git, github, Apache, nginx, postfix, OpenSSH server software,
sshguard
Expertise in at least interpreted scripting languages (Python, Shell, Ruby, Perl, etc
Experience with Ansible and YAML syntax
Experience with server-class PC hardware (HP, Dell, etc), breakfix/firmware updates
Ability to build Linux software packages from source when needed
Experience with major package management systems: APT, Yum, Zypper
Experience with LVM, the Linux Volume Manager and ZFS
Experience with networking protocols: ipv4, ipv6, http/https, tcp/ip, ssh, smtp, ldap
Ability to operate in a firewalled environment with iptables and other firewalls you
can’t see but need to test around.
Experience with Veeam Backup and Replication Software
Experience with web server security, applications, and SSL Certificates
Experience with git source code control & Gerrit source code review
Experience with Nagios system monitoring software
General Experience with Jenkins continuous integration software (plugins and
upgrades)
Experience with Python package libraries, experience with Node.JS apps
Experience with OpenSuse, Clearlinux, Docker, Windows Server operating systems
