Data Base Programmer/Analyst for the State of Colorado
Location: Denver CO
Duration: 12+ Months

The Contractor shall assist CDE in reviewing a data model and implementing a new solution to the existing organization and school directory dimensions in CDE’s data warehouse and reporting environment.
Design and develop code to create conversion code to migrate data from existing school directory dimensions to the newly designed school directory dimension.
Validate the new dimensions and work with the data warehouse and reporting teams to migrate the new dimensions into existing processes.
Submit detailed status reports or participate in weekly status meetings as required by the Department during the engagement.
Attend required meetings with the required project stakeholders as directed by the Department.
These meetings will be scheduled by a Department employee. All questions and communication should go through the Business Intelligence Supervisor, Kevin Smith or the Data Warehouse Manager, Dan Pappas. If Kevin and Dan are not available they will recommend a Department employee for the communication.
Alert the Business Intelligence Supervisor and/or Department’s Data Warehouse Manager, when issues or potential risks are encountered that will affect the project.
Provide documentation to the Business Intelligence Supervisor and Data Warehouse Manager.
This documentation must provide details on the work provided and at a level a Department employee can use the information in order to support the work at the end of the contract.
SECTION 3.0 Qualifications
A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience and knowledge of development experience as an Informatica and PL/SQL developer working in an Oracle environment including (but not limited to) the following:
Architecture and Design
Data Modeling
Data Warehouse Design (working knowledge of Star Schema, surrogate keys, primary and foreign key relationships, etc
Developing new mappings, transformations, and workflows using Informatics
At least eight (8) years of development experience with complex SQL queries.
Demonstrated experience with Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence Architecture concepts (including database design, data modelling, data flow diagrams
Experience with gathering requirements from users. This could include Face-to-Face meetings and interviews, and/or virtual meetings, and/or a combination of both. Also, The ETL Developer may need to do some data modeling design sessions to help the requirements to be more accurately defined by the business users.
Availability and flexibility to work nights and weekends as required by the implementation to reduce impact to CDE operations. As with many technology implementations, some of the work often has to be done in off hours as it often requires system outages.
A bachelor’s degree in area of specialty (or equivalent experience), and 8 years or more experience in the field or in a related area.
Contractor shall be required to pass a criminal background check.
Preferred Experience:
8.1. Experience developing process diagrams, data flow diagrams, and spreadsheets with “data elements” mappings.
8.2. Working knowledge and experience with Cognos and/or Tableau developer
8.3. (3 or more years) State and government experience: a general understanding and familiarity of CDE infrastructure.
(3 or more years) Colorado K-12 accountability system familiarity
