Position Information:
Our client is seeking a Student Analytics Project Manager to manage and oversee the planning, design, implementation, and future enhancements to their Student Data Lake Analytics platform.

The Student Analytics Project Manager will help to lead and mentor the team on student data initiatives.

This will include the management of student data oriented projects in support of the goals and objectives of the client including the Graduation Initiative 2025, Student Analytics Data Lake, and future projects that develop from the implementation of the data lake.

This position will represent the client at the campuses as they create and enhance their own student analytics endeavors using the data lake.

Under the general direction of the Director, Enterprise Business Intelligence Solutions, the Student Analytics Project Manager will:

Manage large and complex student analytics projects using the data lake. This position will manage the implementation and support of the Student analytics system as well as any future updates as needed.

This role will need to successfully partner with Academic Affairs, Student Success and Institutional Research teams in order to build consensus and drive alignment to statewide standards in support of the CO and our 23 campuses with the implementation of Student Analytics using the CSU data lake and existing data warehouses.

This will include Campus visits, Zoom conferences, and other communication tools as required. -Play a key role in statewide data governance orchestration efforts that will increase communication and collaboration among campus data governance efforts with the goal of aligning vocabularies and definitions statewide.

Manage and oversee all facets of the technical and functional planning and implementation efforts for the Student Analytics business intelligence / data warehouse suite including: directing the BI/DW staff to develop system requirements; managing technical analysis and technical specification preparation; as well as managing fit/gap analysis and specification preparation, development; testing; preparing time and cost estimates for proposed customizations, upgrades and other project activity.

Data validation / quality assurance will be a critical component of this process to ensure the data lake contains the same data as the source systems.

As the student analytics expert, this role will guide and mentor others to consistently and cohesively define, create, manage, and promote the use of student data for effective decision making.

They will coordinate all student analytics project activity in support of statewide standards and will work with all areas of the BI/DW team to produce deliverables and ensure quality and expectations for solutions are met.

The Student Analytics Project Manager will also undertake special projects or other technical duties as needed.


A Bachelor''s degree in information technology or related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience, plus course work in project management or administration, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, required.

A minimum of 10+ years of experience in systems development and project management including significant experience with systems analysis, programming, and/or database management; comprehensive knowledge of project control techniques, including milestone and critical path scheduling.

As these are the primary source systems for our analytics tools, PeopleSoft application experience using PeopleTools, PeopleCode, SQR, Process Scheduler, and PeopleSoft Campus Solutions experience is required along with a detailed knowledge of how such data is used by various constituent groups.Familiarity with Amazon Web Services or other cloud infrastructure is a plus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong leadership skills; commitment-to-task is required.

The Student Analytics Project Manager must be a self-starter, with strong decision making skills and ability to work under pressure, the ability to translate needs analysis data into formal designs, and strong organizational, supervisory, and interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with a wide variety of internal and external resources.

Some travel required.

Preferred Skills:
Advanced skills in the use of information technology is highly desirable.
Additional training in management and technical areas is a plus.
