Role: Senior Linux Administrator
Location: Washington, District of Columbia
Duration: 12 months



Job Description 

Using the following technologies and methodologies, the Sr Linux/Unix Administrator will provide progressive and best in class solutions in maintaining high performance operations for enterprise infrastructure and applications.


Tomcat, PHP, Coldfusion application servers
Perl, Shell, Python, XML,
Splunk, Nagios, NewRelic, TripWire, Netbackup, Bamboo, Puppet
F5, DNS/BIND, SMTP/Sendmail, SNMP, Active Directory
VmWare, Redhat Enterprise Linux, Oracle RAC, HA Clustering
Devops & Linux Engineer with expertise in areas of Software Configuration Management, Devops/Build and Release management, Version Control, CI/CD Pipeline Linux System Administration.
Having a good knowledge in Amazon Web Services including EC2, S3, ELB, Auto scaling and other resources
Installed and administered VMware ESXi 5. 1/5. 5/6. 0, vCenter Server, vMotion, HA, DRS, SRM and AWS.
Patch automation


What will you do in this role?


Collaborate closely with other infrastructure teams (e. g. Network, Storage, Windows, and Database) to provide expert consultation and technical administration for projects, initiatives and general operations in order to ensure system performance, availability and security across platforms 
Analyze problems with linux, Unix servers, middleware, and operating systems
Deliver timely resolution and document troubleshooting procedures in order to mitigate impact of issues and improve infrastructure performance
Maintain documentation of key functional processes
Mentor Junior System Administrators
Provides secondary support for Storage and Backups as needed 
Perform incident response tasks and services restoration
Apply operating system patches, security patches, and third-party updates in order to maintain servers at a high level of performance, availability, and security
Proactively monitor servers, services, and applications utilizing multiple tools and alert mechanisms
Respond to issues on Unix related platform components (e. g. Websphere, ColdFusion, PHP/Apache, Tomcat, Jini, Linux, BigIP servers, etc
Determine performance trends and opportunities for optimization
Perform variety of Unix Administrative activities to successfully complete a range of service requests including, but not limited to, code posts, access requests, server/service restarts, war room support, technical support to other groups
Close service requests in timely manner.

What will you need?


Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred in computer science, management information systems or related field (or equivalent experience)
The most successful candidate would have had prior experience performing migrations, upgrades  and integrations of a broad range of both legacy and progressive platforms through the complete SDLC and multiple iterations
5+ years of experience
RHCSA, RCHE preferred, AWS
Redhat Enterprise Linux, Tomcat, Oracle RAC
System Configuration Management automation/orchestration.
