Position Title: Senior Database Administrator

Description:

Senior Database Administrator Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and monitor Cassandra databases
Handle all Cassandra environment builds, including design, capacity planning, cluster setup, performance tuning and ongoing monitoring
Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot any replication issues
Analyze query performance and provide solutions in a timely manner
Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for the Cassandra database
Research and recommend best practices for system administration tasks
Administer database backup and recovery functions
Provide on-call support to Cassandra databases and provide solutions when issue arise
Carry out performance tuning of Cassandra clusters to support high read/write throughput while minimizing latency
Analyze database access patterns to isolate hotspots, data model problems, and other bottlenecks
Plan, test, and execute standard cluster maintenance activities & Cassandra version upgrades
Perform proactive capacity planning and forecasting based on database usage patterns and new business initiatives
Establish standards and best practices for operating a high-performance, distributed NoSQL computing environment
Proactively diagnose and troubleshoot production issues
Frequent communications and collaborations with application teams
Share Cassandra knowledge with the team-members
Comply with security standards and best practices

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field
5+ years of hands-on experience of supporting Cassandra cluster in production environment
Good understanding of data models
A deep understanding of Cassandra design principals, cluster connectivity, security and the factors that affect distributed system performance
In depth knowledge of architecting and creating Cassandra environment
Experience with implementation of Cassandra Database in an enterprise, Design and Support data migration
Experience with Shell scripting
Knowledge of Ansible, Python, Jenkins, Nexus and Kafka
Good verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills
Good documentation skills
Good understanding of Cassandra data modeling patterns and anti-patterns
Experience with Apache Spark for analytics
Experience with search integration products like Solr / Lucene
Working experience with DataStax Enterprise
Hands-on experience in setting up Cassandra cluster.
Hands-on Development experience
At least 2 years of Oracle database administration experience
Good unix scripting experience
Good oracle PL/SQL experience
Good SQL Lite (K2view) experience
Experience with Devops Tool: Git,Jenkins, JFrog
