A Storage Area Network (SAN) is a kind of Local Area Network designs to handle large data transfers. It is a high speed sub network of shared storage devices combines with data servers on behalf of a large network for users. The SAN utilize an communication technology named Fibre Channel an infrastructure designs to handle communications for storage. It provides faster and reliable access in higher-level protocols used in NAS. The SAN use to make storage devices, such as disk arrays, tape libraries, and optical jukeboxes, accessible to servers so that the devices appear like locally attached devices to the Operating System. The SAN system consists of storage elements, storage devices, computer systems, appliances, plus all control software, and communicating over a network.
